New Firmware Coming for M8 & M9

Hoping for some high ISO improvements. My M9 occasionally locks up. It'd be nice if they could fix that. It already has s HCB mode keenly disguised as Vintage B+W. Card compatability upgrades would be nice as all my SD cards are 4GB and I want to step up to 8GB and would like to switch to Kingston brand cards. For some reason Sandisk is at the top of their compatability list. Improved write times would be a nice boon as well but that is probably more of a hardware issue rather than software.

That's great! Maybe it's too late, but here is my wish list in this new M8 firmware

1. improved white balance
2. manually select lens
3. improved High ISO
 
My cranium is smoking after watching that, Keith. Wow.

I still fail to understand how the de-sensitized film can sit around in broad daylight, but then be exposed by the pinhole. I guess that metal lens area has the accelerators/ directional light amplifiers he talks about.

Crazy.

bracketing IS the HDR mode :S
(the manual says clearly that using some software on your computer you can create HDR "pictures" ( i cant say photograph and HDR in the same sentence sorry) under the "bracketing section")

I'm guessing that means a "bracketing" mode which facilitates HDR, not "HDR" itself?

Where in Paris? I now live there (here) and have only seen three Leica-authorized shops, one in Beaumarchais and another one near Place d'Italie.

Not in the M8...........yet 🙂

Given the limited "space" in the M8 firmware a lens list has been previously ruled out which would be on my list. Bracketing could be useful on the M8 but I understand the minimum step is 0.5EV. I would not be looking for HDR but a capture of fine (1/3rd stop) gradations to hit the "sweet" spot. As it is at the moment I can perform that with the Zeiss glass 😀
 
Yes, but I've only caused two computers to catch on fire in my career.

Emitter Coupled Logic generated a lot of heat and easily overloaded power supplies when left doing 4 days of computations.
