Any change in firmware can create unexpected bugs.
True indeed. We only need to be patient to find out.

No M8 illusions, guys. The M8 is a done deal. New lenses will be added to the firmware, some bugs ironed out, and that will be it imo.
I'm afraid so. Well, but at least they are still working on updates for the M8, which in itself is a good thing. Even though functionality may not be vastly improved.

They'll catch up with the iPhone and give it a Leica "Hipstamatic" mode.

Maybe it'll give us more megapixels.

Maybe the M8 will be full frame after the update!

And the M9 will be full frame in 3D!

I don't own either M8 or M9, but I'm quite impressed Leica are making the update for M8 too. That's proper support you don't get much of these days.

Easy to do when all you have to support is two cameras.

Shame on Leica! They can't do anything right.
Oh, em...Canon, Panasonic, Nikon.
Any other predictable comments missing?

i just got a turn down mail from that firmware test
At least i tried.
Dear bizarrius,
Sorry, we were completely overwhelmed
Thanks a lot for your offer to support us in testing the new Leica M8 and M9 firmware. In this first run we cannot give you a positive reply to your application.
Our guess was to receive about 100 applications - but almost 1000 forum members offered their help. As we want to gain expriences in this first test we've limited the number of testers to 50. We are afraid, not to be able to handle your feedback properly.
But we have your application and your data in our records. In future tests we will recrute more testers from this pool. So perhaps we'll come back to you later!
Thanks again for your support!

Same here. Heh. I'm not surprised though - I only have one Leica lens.![]()
I'm not surprised either. However, I have come around to agreeing with the idea that this firmware update is going to center on wide angle lens issues. I have a number of Leica lenses, but none wider than 35 mm. For a tiny pool of 50 testers, they must be working on something quite specific.

Got my rejection email, too. I also thought they may be trying to address issues with the wide-angle lens, but maybe they want people who own lenses wider than 24mm.
