As Sony mentioned a couple weeks ago, there's new firmware out for both A7 and A7r cameras:
Firmware V1.02 for Windows
Firmware V1.02 for Mac

Just upgraded. Can't say about AF since I don't own any AF e-mount lenses.
Startup is definitely faster. The EVF turn-on lag is still annoying, but both cold boots to the LCD and restarts (immediately turn off then on) are at least as fast as the NEX7.
No difference to the raws, as far as I can see now...

I read elsewhere RAW file sizes are slightly larger and more variable. If someone is loading new firmware perhaps a test shot of the wallpaper before and after? There is an improvement in the jpeg output quoted by Sony but I suspect only pixel peepers need apply to test that.

The link above is for the A7; here's the link to the A7R upgrade

Just did mine - turn on is much faster; AF on the Zeiss 55/1.8 is also noticeably faster.

I upgraded mine. Start up time is definably better and the AF seems a little quicker. Oh mine is the a7R.

Ok.. just upgraded (I'm slow like that
) - yep.. start up time is vastly improved. Can't comment on AF since I use this as a platform for my M lenses currently.
