Can someone help me understand why its Maximum and not minimum exposure time? Why is 1/500 the max in Auto ISO?

Minimum time = maximum speed. 1/500 is not the max if you choose auto iso in manual mode. Just set your shutter speed dial to 1/1000 or faster.

A short(?) review of the new firmware ver. 1.2:
1) The Horizon Level is now enabled to superimpose over the LV-scene image. The menu option "Horizon" has a choice that enables this feature. This is one of my favorite new additions and it has been very handy when shooting my WATE. Once set up in the menu it is easily deployed by pressing the INFO button. Previously, it could only be shown on a blank screen and for me was unusable this way.
Thanks! I didn't know how that you had to press INFO.

Because, maximum exposure time is the same as saying minimum shutter speed.
1/1500 sec. is the minimum, and 1/2 sec. is the maximum exposure time.
