What a site! Just found it yesterday & I'm very impressed! I've been bitten by the bug for a rangefinder(s). I'm waiting on a Petri 7s that I just won on ebay. Also have bids on a Yashica GSN Electro 35. But now I want a Voigtlander Bessa R3A.
I could justify it by using it at weddings!

I guess I'm tired of my DSLR's right now. Started out with a old Kodak rangefinder back in the early 70's(wish I did not sell it).

Now I wish I also didn't give away all of my darkroom equipment several years ago.

Great site!

R3A is a nice camera to use. Easy to focus, really nice viewfinder, well designed. Not the quietest of rangefinders, however. But, for the price, you'd have trouble finding a better new M-mount camera. Buy the Nokton 40 for it. Wonderful lens.

Welcome aboard!

The GSN is a nice camera, sharp lens.

Look at the galleries and threads. That Bessa will give a big choice in lenses.

For what I paid for my Canon digitals(10d & drebel) a Leica doesn't seem that expensive!
Everytime I hold the rebel I think to myself..."I paid how much for this?" I got to be crazy!
before you jump on a 3A i would like to throw out the idea of a R2 [not R2A] the 2 has the Mount but is not a brick when the batteries die. If I were to do it again I would go with the 2 over the Rs that I have.

just a thought and welcome to the group

Welcome, Brad. Enjoy your stay. Mind the virus that runs here on RFF; you can easily catch GAS! 🙂

Welcome, Brad. I hope you find the "right" RF camera for you in short (and working) order!

might as well go straight for the leica section, maybe an m2 or m3 to start...it will be cheaper in the long run.
Now, Joe, is that any way for a "moderator" to behave? 😉

Welcome, Brad! Saw your homepage, look forward to hearing more about your plans of using a rangefinder for your wedding photography. You might very well become one of the few here at RFF to make money using a rangefinder camera. How many more of us does that? (I definitely don't ...)

Leica's are not expensive.
I used my M3 for ten years and sold it for more money than I paid for it.
That's ten years of cheap shooting in my book!
Just don't buy new.

Chears,

Michiel
