New Hermes M8 that looks like MP

This Hermes Leica MP is probably the Most Beautiful Leica Ever Made. But since the price of these "edition" models are so high, it if first of all Leica that makes a profit on them. There was one 2. hand Hermes MP for sale here in Norway a few months back. The asking price only brought about laughter. For the same price you could buy a new 1Ds III. It wasn't sold. Taking it for granted that they might become collectors items is too risky. In this market there are no operators with wast resources to corner the market and squeeze the prices upwards. Like in the market of contemporary art, or the stock market.

I think such collector's camera is nice, but sometimes at a stupid price. I really think they should come with a passion red leather chrome mp and sell it for twice the price and donate 50% to the AIDS fund. Fashionistas circle are always at it anyway...

Now hands up who is wearing a Hermes belt now.

Yap, its an "old" camera, M8 my ... well...

Its a Leica MP Hermes, like many people said and sorry, its within the top three most gorgeous camera of all time for me :

Leica MP Hermes
Leica MP Anthracite
Leica MP3 Black Paint

Well, at least I'm going to make one of my dreams come true and I presented myself a Leica MP Anthracite brand new ( found one ) on july 1st, my bday 🙂 Can't wait to shoot film again !

But if in the same shop a Leica MP Hermes showed up, I would have to think very hard.

I love the Titaniums M as well ( I even like the M6 Ti then the M7 Ti then the M6 TTL Ti )

Can't haven them all though.

Gorgeous set.
Nothing wrong with giving people options. Nobody is forced to buy this camera or any Leica. I never understand the negative responses to the special edition Leicas.
It is no law a cemera has to look beaten up. An ugly used to death camera does not make it's user a better or more serious photographer.

I disagree with critics about Leica producing special editions. I would rather say an M8 with an MP look is something I would like to see and is overdue.

What is the problem with Leica offering these options? It very much makes sense as they are handmade anyhow, add diversity and generate some additional cash flow. Further with a technical concept of focusing on the essentials Leica is not in the position like others to offer "another-useless-gimmick-added version" every year.

Thus Leica's special editions offer a different look which doesn't necessarily mean that they are bought by collectors only.

Regards
Steve

PS: I never met a Leica collector in real life btw, thus I doubt they exists in large numbers. All Leica users that I met were heavy users.
