Melanie,

This is really nice! What film?

Brad

Some amazing pics in this thread! My holga (and lomo) have been gathering dust while I'm all about my bessas, but I'll have to break it out one of these days.

Here's an older shot:

Hi Brad, it's Kodak Portra 400VC.

I have thought about trying slide film in my Holga, but with the near total lack of control over exposure I have been afraid to.

As I mentioned, I shoot slide film with my Holgas.
As far as I am concerned, considering the camera I am using, I get "perfect" exposures.
I would suggest using a 100 ASA film and shooting with "optimum" light at f/11, the sunny icon.

Holgas ROCK!
;) :D

well since everyone is outing themselves as holga users, i will do so too

by the way holga is no point and shoot. Its a fully manual, scale focus camera ;)

LOL!
I would think with a user name like yours you would be, but I am glad you are comfortable with outing yourself here.
 :) ;)
Great photographs!

I love Holga! Check out my latest experiment with it:

I shot a whole roll without frame limits and scanned it in full length. I was trying to achieve a one long visual representation rather than sequence of images.

That's pretty cool. I'd love to see it in print.

So did you only half-wind between frames?

When you slide the "f stop" thingie back and forth, it doesn't actually change the aperture. At least, it doesn't on mine. You can see that it wants to, but something about the construction is off. This is also noted in, I believe, the Camerapedia entry on Holgas. Which I kinda like because then I'm REALLY off the hook when it comes to getting exposure right.

Provia 100, here we come!

I have exactly the same with mine and even when i do switch both exposures are the same. I find 100 too slow and prefer 400. Even this can under expose on mine. However it's still going strong after 8 years despite being kept in a hot humid environment. It's never let me down once.

More reliable than an R-D1 and 1/100 of the price ;-)

Simon, it's AMAZING!!

Yes I think Simon is the living proof that the quality of the camera has no impact whatsoever on the quality of the picture, the photographer is what it counts!

(Damn can't blame my tools anymore now)

I love my Holga, and am open about it. I'll post some shots as soon as my scanner gets here.

Melanie, that beach shot is amazing.
