Does it fully work? Were you able to test it yourself?

Sounds like a good deal! Used ones go for 1200CAD these days. M6 is very very very good camera - have it!

No havent tested yet
Ive read that a leica sitting unused for a period of time could need servicing regardless if its new in box

They made the M6 for 18 yrs. Is this an early classic or late model? Chrome or black?

Question is do you want a new condition M6? A nice used one that doesn't need service would probably cost you $1200 or so. So you pay a premium to have a new looking camera with box etc. Will the new one need service? I doubt it but who knows? It just depends on the premium you're willing to pay for the condition.
Will you keep the camera long term? You're unlikely to lose much if you buy used and decide you don't like it. But if you buy that new looking one and put some marks on it, you're not likely to get your money back.

You could also, with a little patience, find a used MP for not much more. In fact, I scored an M7 for around $1900 USD about a year ago.

if it has not been used and sitting in a box, expect a CLA to be needed.

I think this is the answer.
Ser #21xx is not a late model nor is chrome premium priced. Is it worth the price ? maybe if you're a collector. As a shooter Id go for late model M6 or M7.

BTW the sleeper of newer Leicas is the M7. This is truly a fantastic camera and often sold cut rate -

not actually
Sounds pretty high to me. I wouldn't buy it. I've been seeing boxed M6 ttls sell for under $1000 USD on ebay lately, often with only one bid. None of them were new, but most were in excellent shape. Given the current market/ exchange rates, I wouldn't pay above $1300 CAD.

.... exactly my thoughts, too.

Not disagreeing here, I've never bought a Leica that's sat in a box for years, but what is it that would need servicing? Expect shutter speeds to be off? Meter?
I would expect that a few minutes with the camera could tell whether or not the basic functions were operating properly. In such case, I don't think this issue is that different between this camera and any other used camera that hasn't been serviced recently. Sure something could fail, but they're generally very reliable cameras.
And yes, most of us would rather spend a similar dollar amount on a nice used M7 or maybe a few hundred more for a used MP, or a used M6 and a lens, but that wasn't the OP's question.
