A rebuilt Jupiter 8 on a Leica M2.....very special thanks to Mr Brian Sweeney for his efforts on the other side of the world...

Brian just fixed my J8, which backfocused badly. Now that he's shimmed it for correct focus accuracy I finally see how SHARP this lens is! Wow.

I am still going through the first roll with this lens....I previouslyhad a J8M on my Contax and admired the results; quite frankly, it blew a collapsable Sonnar I had out of the water...
Brian kindly built this with parts from different lenses, a recent black case from the eighties I think, and glass from 1955.

The lens looks at home on the M2. I've used it on my M3, was very good. i used it in a test of Twelve 50mm f2 lenses. That I owned... Funny how they build up!
Carlson and Chris, post some shots with the J-8's when they come back.

Kim Coxon, who is no longer to be seen or heard, "did a Brian" on my J-3: which, incidentally, looks just right on my M2.

A couple of shots from this lens and camera;
Both taken at f4 on Fomapan 400 film...
(Still learning about scanning negatives so these may or may not be the best that can be done.)

Beatiful pictures, but unfortunately we cannot appreciate the sharpness of the JU8 here right now, I think because you used very soft light in these pictures. Perhaps you have some pics to share made in bright sunlight?

Ron - yes, very soft light. I have some others yet to dev and scan that hopefully will show what it can do for sharpness.

Here's one I just made in full sunlight with almost fully open aperture. I think it is not bad for a cheap lens, btw mine has no coating. After having tested this lens, one could also try the Industar L/D 61, it is coated and has the Lathanium glass (and is also very cheap)

Beautiful shots Ron and Carlsen. Brian has made a believer out of me. The FSU glass he worked on performs perfectly!
Beautiful portraits. Please post the F2 shots back when you get them. I have tests done with this J-8's optics module close-up and wide-open. I'm always looking for confirmation that they do well close-up and wide-open after the shim job.
