New KEH website: From bad to worse?

I ordered a pair of items from KEH last week. I couldn't find what I was looking for with their new organization and found it on the old site in seconds (along with an additional item browsing their 'new items' list on the old site).

I hope they keep the classic option around indefinitely; its the only way I'd buy from them. The new direction is disappointing as I've bought several items from KEH in the past and have a heck of a time sorting to through the new organization. If it was the only method they provide, I'd probably bail on future purchases from them.

The new site is indeed a mess. You search for something and a butt load of stuff shows up.
I did order a lens from them a couple of weeks ago...great deal as usual...but that web page?

Peace

I agree with everyone about sticking to the classic site. I buy quite a bit of stuff from them and always use the classic - it's the only straightforward wa to find what I'm looking for - it's so b****y logical unlike the new one. Plus the old site sometimes shows the actual item you're interested in - ain't progress grand!

One other bug - $3.95 shipping for small items under $100 doesn't show as an option using the new site. I bought a couple of filters and had to use the classic site to see cheaper shipping options.

Had a frustrating experience ordering with keh. They had a 10% discount code that would not work with the classic site. When I tried to order those items from the new site, I couldn't find one item until I emptied out the cart on the classic site! Not sure if that last part was coincidence or not, but still. Ugh.

Plus One to all that. I didn't know about the classic site still being available until this thread. I just used it, and found what i wanted in seconds; after looking for it for weeks on the new format.

FEH to KEH for their new format. 😱

And another thing: what happened to their free shipping for orders over $100. I just spent $649 on a lens, and they charged me for the shipping, plus another $3 insurance.

Looks like the search searches for each specific word you type in the search bar.
Put your search query between quotes: "58mm Green Filter", or type "AND" between the words "58mm AND Green". That will probably tell the site to look only for entries that contain both words.

[UPDATE]...nope...my suggestions don't work. I guess the search parameters really are set very broad 🙁

I just noticed that last night. The old site was far and away easier to use, but then I don't usually search KEH for specific things. I tend to just browse and see what's interesting.

Should be the first rule of commerce: Make it easy for people to buy things.

I find the new site rather easy to use. Could be better though; seems like they mucked up a fair bit by trying to grandfather the old database and system, and in turn having things confused, and some features being hidden away or not obvious at a glance.

As an example for above "canon rangefinders", it would have been trivial to just go to Purchase -> Shop By Mount and look for "canon screwmount" (since that'll result in everything you need). Hell, even maybe under M39. But... it's not there? But if you look closely, there really is a mount type of "Canon S" for screwmounts, and what do you know it brings up the correct results. Then you can drill down to lens or body from there etc, but it's already late.

I mean, what the hell is "collectibles" anyway. Just properly organise the damn things objectively.

The new site is garbage. It looks and feels just like the horrible-to-navigate B&H and Adorama sites. I'm willing to bet they all use the same template. Regardless of code, the new site sucks and it has driven me away from browsing and shopping with them. These days I only want film anyway so I can get it from B&H easily (little navigation required for film) or just go to Webb Cam here in Philly and do my part to try to keep our last brick and mortar shop open.

Just horrible!!!!!! I was on the phone with them yesterday and the sales rep couldn't even find an F- Prisim in the data base. He tried to tell me how to do it then couldnt do it himself....so sad. He told me they have a new marketing group and I told him they are going to ruin your business.....can't keep hands off a good thing

yes .... for a few years it was a good source of gear that was a low risk purchase and easy to return if necessary...hard to see that as a resource if you can't find anything you need.... i guess you did miss it
