1/3 stop between 1.1 and 1.2 is going to make a difference in what you shoot? Seriously? What do you shoot thats so critical?
F1.05, that's a new one on me. Are you saying between f1 and 1.1? You do realize that's a whopping 1/6 of a stop?
I am very particular with my exposures.

I use sometimes my Noctilux at 1.2, just to see that it's much better (for me of course) than when used full open.
Less vignetting is the obvious.
As side note, years ago, I had opportunity to compare my 1.0 at 1.2 to the original f/1.2 and I prefer the rendering of the cheaper (relatively) non-asph. at same f/1.2
This new 1.2/50mm asph. from Voigtlander is good news for me searching for smaller 50mm.

The Noctilux 1.2 that I owned wasn't a particularly outstanding lens. It performed its best at wide apertures and started to degrade below f4. Of coursec you buy a lens like that for its wide open performance.
I wound up trading it for a Summicron and other equipment and didn't miss it. Since, I wish I had it back due to increased prices but I'd sell it if I had one.
About the time I got rid of mine I worked for the DOE and used a new f1 Noctilux. I agree I'd rather have the f1 version.

I've found some specs:
Main Specifications
Focal length 50 mm
Number of diaphragm blades 12
Maximum F value F1.2
Shortest shooting distance 70 cm
Minimum F value F22
Maximum diameter x Total length Φ 63.1 x 49.0 mm
Click Stop 1/2
Filter diameter Φ 52 mm
Lens construction 6 groups 8 pieces mount
VM (Leica M mount compatible)
Angle of view 47.5 °
Weight is not mentioned.
A twelve blade f-stop. Incredible!
The configuration will be like this (this is the Nokton 40mm f/1.2):
I guess that the hood is the same as from the 40mm f/1.2: LH8.
Erik.

Any of you guys shoot with the Voigtlander 40/1.2 E or M lens?
The new 50/1.2 has the same look and bokeh as the 40/1.2.
No delivery date or prices yet.

Great news!
Any "feeling" about a release date?

I've found a new picture of the new 50mm f/1.2. Looks very nice with the shade, not unlike the Noctilux 50mm f/1.2.

I bought a Zeiss Hologon 16/8, or I would have been interested in getting such a CV 50/1.2. I have the CV 50/1.1 and 50/1.5, so the 50/1.2 would fit in well.

the apo-lanthar's bokeh is really smooth, and the nokton is only slightly edgy, judging by the oof circles that aren't blown out. [insert drool emoji here]

they should have tweaked the min focus on the 1.1 instead. only reason why I sold it, 1m min focus didn't work for me. be interesting to see the pricing on this lens and real world photos.

My guess: $ 1200-$1300

Never seen a through-the-lens video to help evaluate a lens, but that's actually quite helpful isn't it? Thanks for sharing.

Yes, really great news!
Also the comment about the similar rendering like the great Nokton 1.2/40.
Unfortunately the announcements from Cosina actually take 12 Month to availability.
See the Ultron 1.7/35 VM ...

Great news, I was hoping for a Zeiss Zm fast 50, but this should do nicely. Hopefully better resolution at wider aperatures than the 1.1.

Hardly possible in my opinion.
Leica M3, VC Nokton 50mm f/1.1 full aperture, Tmax400.

I always thought that f1.2 was half a stop faster than f1.4. On you tube today on photographer was saying the 50mm f1.2 Nikkor let more light through than the canon 50mm f1.2?
Just found this, and there are other charts out there:
https://shuttermuse.com/f-stop-chart/
Seem f1.2 IS half a stop faster than f1.4. However, it can also be 1/3 of a stop. Lets hope the VC is half a stop , rather than one third. With 2 aspherical lens surfaces, and 8 elements, this is be a cutting edge lens.
