Thank you Cal! You are my ONLY HOPE left! Mr. Leica does not seem to be interested in giving me a loaner Q2 to try out.
Point of clarification: are the 35, 50, and 75 "modes" just framelines like the M series, or does the focal length fill the whole EVF? I believe I have read that the DNG file contains the entire 28mm but is displayed with crop marks. If it is just framelines, what's the point?
Klaus,
Funny how people are anxious: someone already on this thread wants the M11 to come out; and I await a SL2.
Do you think you'll sell your "Q" and get a Q2?
Cal
The Q files are already big enough for me.I've said it before, what is there not to like about the Q? Well, Leica done went and improved it, which is why I hardly ever buy an expensive item in its first iteration. Added another crop frame for portrait work, and upped the sensor resolution to compensate for the cropping. Man, those 28mm files must be monster big!
I'm pretty sure I'd have to upgrade my computer to be able to handle such a beast, but it would be worth it. The dust and weather sealing alone would make it worthwhile over the original. I can rationalize about such a high value purchase as it would save a lot in the short and long runs. It would have been better if the focal length had been determined by a MATE or WATE, but the crop framing simulates a MATE anyway, with the addition of 75mm, and you never have to drop a rear lens cap.
It's a full kit in one camera as far as I'm concerned. And that satisfies me as I won't have to go searching for three or four lenses to go with a camera body, and can travel with the confidence that it will be ready at a moments notice.
But I have to save up more money first. Dang price increases.
