New look for RFF

Can we have a New Posts button on the front page please (or even on every page)? Its a pain in the ass now trying to find a page that displays the New Posts button.

Would be nice to have on the home page for convenience sake.
Nice changes to the homepage today Jorge.

change to RFF layout to emulate DSLRx

change to RFF layout to emulate DSLRx

Jorge, hate to say this but here goes

• The DSLRx website now looks like a readily available template that I have seen on many ‘homemade’ sites I could provide a couple but why bother incriminating myself ;- )
• The proposed change would make the RFF site look like a non-descript site in a sea of many similarly laid out sites
• The current colour combo is more fitting to a viewers eyes for prolonged viewing.
• The previous DSLRx look was “unique” as is RFF’s look that is a signature and has identifiable viewer recognition value. Throwing that away is leaving the format open to others to pick up and ‘claim’ for their own. Once given away it is hard to reclaim..

Well said. Agree with every word. The change would loose the uniqueness of the site and make it look like so many others that are hard to remember because they are hard to distinguish. You loose the sense of a community and individuality. And as said, once lost it's gone. It would be like Apple deciding to make its machines look like every other PC and give up the look of the interface in favor of the new Vista look.

Jorge, Joe, everybody, let me speak very freely and openly here.

I don't use this site nearly as much as I once did, mainly because I feel it's drifted away from what I want. I know there are other users who feel the same way. I've been in contact with some and the general question is what else (what other site(s)) might be a good replacement for what RFF was.

Last week we had a good thread, many requests for a film forum.

That seemed to be ignored, but what we got was a new logo banner and a bunch of annoying cosmetic changes. 🙁

One of these was the removal of the "Today's Posts" from the main screen, something that I used quite a bit. I asked if that could be put back, no response. 🙁

This has caused me to say "the heck with it" and just skip it when the "New Posts" doesn't return as many as I think it should.

Jorge, please don't take me wrong. I appreciate the site, but you do have to listen to your users if you want to keep them happy -- and coming back.

Thanks for listening.

OK, two clicks for new posts I can get used to but just a bit lasy and would prefer button on the homepage. I prefer idiot proof buttons at home - spend enough time "playing" with technology at work, I'd rather not have to think too much about it at home.

I quite like the apug option of showing the total number of new posts since your last visit up by your private message total and last visit time. However it has been known to go screwy every so often and show 0 when you click the link so the today's post option would come in handy then if they had it. Any chance of today's posts reappearing somewhere? Just nice if you want to go back and look at something already seen during the day.
