new lynx 14e and rf adjustment

It's been a good week for me yashica-wise, I got my electro put back together and going again, and today, my Lynx 14e came in. Save for a couple dents and a bottom engraving, it's in excellent cosmetic shape. The shutter speeds sound accurate and the light seals are even pretty good looking. I don't have batteries so I can't test the meter, but I don't consider that too important anyway.

The only thing that it needs is an RF adjustment, both horizontal and vertical. I checked on yashica-guy and found instructions for adjusting the electro's (removing the acc shoe plate for horizontal adjustment) but I'm not clear if those instructions apply to the lynx as well. Anyone have any tips/tricks on these adjustments?

If you take the top off be careful of the wire that goes to the PC socket. It breaks easily and was a REAL PAIN to solder back together because of the working room. I'll be taking a Lynx apart soon to clean the finder, it is in perfect alignment. I'll shoot some pictures with the Nikon E3 digital. I want to try it out with the SB29 ringlight. Unlike the D1, the E3 actually uses normal Nikon TTL flashes.

This project will have to wait until I am off of BLASTED cold medications. Hopefully this weekend.

Ok, that's good to know. I don't plan on using the lynx with flash so if I mess that connection up, I won't be too disapointed. It's sounds like I have to remove the top cover to perform the RF adjustments, I can't go through the acc shoe, is that correct?

Good, I was hoping that it wasn't necessary to remove the top cover. I should however remove it anyway and clean the RF area. Is the vertical adjustment easily reachable without removing the top cover? If so, I may forgo cleaning the RF area, there is soem dust present, but not enough to not have a clear view.

Ok, probably the best solution going forward will be to open up the top and make the adjustments. Do you know where the vertical RF adjust screw is? Probably hard to describe without a pictures, but I can't seem to find lynx specific vertical rf adjust info online.

You know what a really stupid thing to do? Feeling slightly better, not taking your cold medication so you can work on cameras.

Here is a shot of the LYNX 14e viewfinder/rangefinder. The horizontal adjustment is the big screw all by itself dead center.

You can see the black wire that goes to the PC socket. I used a 2" high stand to relax the tension while working on the camera.

(Taken with my Nikon E3, 60mm F2.8, and SB29 ring light. I am going to start documenting all of these teardowns with this setup.)

Oh. And when you find this stupid little nylon piece laying on the tray after you take the top off, this is where it goes. We will not discuss how long it took to determine where it went and to lay the camera on its back and slide the top cover in place.

I managed to align the RF for infinity on my lynx and cleaned up the VF a bit. It's still a bit darker than my electro 35, but I'm guessing that it's due to age. I didn't get it aligned vertically, I wasn't exactly sure which screw it was and didn't want to mess it up. Other than that, it all went well (I also got some batteries, and the meter is dead, oh well.. no big deal)

I fixed the corroded wire on mine yesterday. Chances are it is this one, has a small solder joint to the battery compartment and a leak from the battery will get right at it. I soldered a piece of wire to the terminal first, push that wire through the battery compartment, then soldered that to the original cleaned and stripped wire. Just was not enough working room for me trying to do it directly.

The white wire with the grren corrosion was a dead give-away.
