New M6 TROUBLE ?!

When you send it in for service also include a strip of the negatives. That eliminates any doubt about the problem. Leica will return the negs once they have fixed the camera.

Henk,

rlouzan, is right, it would be worth-wile to check with leica.

It has been rumored that somethimes shops (even outside USA) sell returned camera's from the US. In the US apparently, it is easy to return an object shortly after purchase if one is not happy with it. These then are not new anymore, of course. Some shops will buy these at a discount and could sell them as new....
What is the shop you have it from???

Henk,
if all else fails and you want to keep the M6, take it to Will van Manen in zoetermeer. I've had both my m6ttl fixed for a light leak that others couldn't and my MP that, out of factory, had slow speeds that didn't work properly fixed. He really does know what he's doing and I would just send it or take it over to him,
succes, john

What is the shop you have it from?

www.kamera-express.nl

5 miles from the place where I live Capelle a/d IJssel near Rotterdam.

Not a very good shop:

a friend of my bougth a year ago a Leicaflex SL and a R2,0/50 Summicron lens. (€250,-)
A Leica repairman in Nijmegen Holland has to repair the camera and the lens substantially within a month!!
Kamera-express refused to pay the bill of the repair...

This is not a very reliable shop. Never buy a Leica in that shop:bang:

Joop,
I must say that I have had very good experiences with Kamera express.
I dealt with the owner Peter Merceij about 25 years ago well before he started Kamera express and continued doing so until this day. My experiences have always been excellent and I have never been disappointed with the service. Mostly I have bought new Leica cameras and lenses and new Rolleiflex. Once I bought a Leica R7 used in beautiful condition, but looking through the viewfinder I was surprised to see some tiny insects. One telephone call and I was told to return it and the purchase price was immediately refunded.
Just like Henk I bought two of the M6 NOS cameras two years ago from them. When I sent one of them to Leica to have the rangefinder updated to the MP type it was treated as a new camera - I only had to pay for the viewfinder and the complete CLA was free.

Oef, Achi4, finally some good news !! Thanks for that, I needed that.
As told today I brought back the camera to kamera-express, with a scratched
film as example. Their service repair man had a quick look and the decision
was instantly made to sent it to Leica Holland. I think he said Utrecht, so
I guess it must be importer Odin . They told me it would take a couple of weeks. So indeed, so far I have no complaints about the shop itself and made none.

I hope I get the same treatment as you did Achi4 !! and that the 1 year waranty will take care off the financial consequences.

I'll keep you informed.

Kamera Express is not the same like 'Foto Uniek' it was!

The Leica importer Odin don't exist any longer since they stopped years ago with their business.

The only Leica importer (not service!!) at moment in Holland is: Transcontinenta in Nieuw Vennep Holland.

A repair in Solms will take mostly a lot of time and money...

Or Kamera-Express will find another (unknown?) cheap Leica repairman in the Netherlands for your camera....?

Joop,

Let us play the ball for now, not the man. This was a thread about my
M6 having a problem and my quest for a solution.

So far my dealing with the shop has been OK. I will be patient and await
the return of my M6. Should things still not be OK, then I'm sure another solution will be found.

Thanks.

And not only here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/customer-forum/61613-new-m6-scratches-film.html

My solution was not to buy with Kamera-Express:cool:

I wish you luck with Kamera-Express...

It's back

It's back

9 weeks after it has been sent 'Home' to Leica Germany, the M6 has returned
with a new pressure plate and a revision, under waranty, no cost.
Tomorrow I will be picking it up, finally.

Perfect

Perfect

I have the M6 with me again. Ran 2 films through it today, they came out cristal clear !
The camera was delivered in a nice little Leica customer service bag as well :)

I'm glad to hear about your camera being now well and working! And I must commend you for being that observant on the results. When I purchased my first Leica I never noticed the very slight leaks it had until it was too late, and the 90-day warranty (it was a used body) was about to run out. In the end, I had to send it to Leica in the US... twice, and as a result I have two of those nice Leica bags you have! :)
