I took some shots and I think ISO performance great and improved. I hope I am not failed. But it is so so good for us especially in colour shots at high ISO's...

and you didn't post anything to prove your point why?
Sorry to be rude about it, but put up or shut up...i'm a little sick of people bashing this camera when there's evidence to the contrary just a few posts prior.
because i couldn't be arsed and I wouldn't have thought that people are going to presume i'm a liar
and see above, there is no evidence of anything... where's the cat before and after ?

I'll be happy to wait for others to try it out firstespecially if reverting back to the previous firmware is a big no go...
There will always be at least a handful of people that will screw-up a firmware upgrade. They are usually the loudest...so you may be waiting for a while.

Hey! Don't get my cat involved in the whole M8 debate, he's very highly strung and may not talk to me for days if he hears you talking this way.
Admittedly, an oversight not to do comparative before and after, however - before I would not have posted even as a test as I found the high ISO shots completely unusuable.
Have you looked at you test shots on the computer or just on the cameras screen - there's a huge difference between the two as initially I thought there was no difference from the previous firmware update ( regarding ISO at least.)

this can't be... the m8 has crappy high iso performance according to all the internet critics?!? could they be incorrect?![]()
They are never incorrect; stating otherwise means you're in Leica's payroll. And if that's true, where's my check?

Here is what Leica says about particular brands of SDHC cards.
2. Compatibility
2.1 Can I use all SD/SDHC cards available in the market for the M8 and M8.2?
The choice of SD and SDHC cards in the market is already very big and is constantly growing. Therefore, Leica Camera AG is not able to do comprehensive compatibility- and quality testing with all available cards in the market. We recommend “Extreme III” or “Professional” from the leading brands such as “SanDisk” or “Lexar”. Using other card types, will not damage camera or card, but as especially “no name” cards do not respect the full SD or SDHC standards, Leica Camera AG cannot warranty full function with those cards.

People forget to apply basic color, not luminance correction when handling RAW files. If I apply the same (or virtually the same) contrast, saturation, and color & luminance noise reduction settings for an M8 DNG file that I would for a RAW Canon 5D file, the M8 files are much cleaner than the 5D ones.
If you compare 5D JPEGs to M8 JPEGs, that's another story, and often will be disappointed. People forget that Canikon have their own version of "Photoshop" (to put it mildly and oversimplified). They have the room to add hardware in each model as needed. Cramming it in an M8 body is a completely different issue. That's why, in general, shooting DNG rather than JPEG is preferred with an M8.
Most people just want results now; for that, they should consider a Canon G9. Or G10, when it's in stores.

I'm not comparing anything. You made a theory out of a short message.
I have different result from the one tmfabian shows here.
If his results are not manipulated in PS or whatever then I have absolutely different sh***y cam. That's what I wanted to say.

From what I read on another forum, I think it was Leica users forum, the new firmware allows auto ISO, the use of sdhc cards, a faster download speed, a higher capacity buffer, and some early adopters are reporting better looking high ISO pics and a cleaner jpg. There are some other rumored improvements but they have yet to be confirmed. Bob.
All this from a firmware update. That's actually impressive.

Is there any improvements about ISO's? High ISO's? With the update 2.0...

Now, did you try it on your old computer as well as your new? ;-)
Thanks for your post, and give the cat some nip, he looks pretty laid back, if he was B&W my friend Jan would name him Ilford.
And yes, I have been to Tanger.

regarding Uwe's examples, better I would see Raw differences if they are there.
I also believe leica's decision not to process too much info but rather let us to make raw process ourselves.
cat's shoots are pretty impressive. It get me think if it is that M8 or what?
