I have seen this with previous versions
I think its giving the remaining capacity as JPEGS rather than RAW, and it swiches back after one shot.
Incidentally the file sizes for RAW seem to have increased slighly too with this new version

I haven't seen any change in RAW file size with Ver 2 from pictures made almost 2 yrs ago. The size has always been 10,575,296 bytes. Where there can be confusion is some utilities count a kilobyte as 1000 bytes rather than the binary 1024 bytes. Also, files on disk which if they don't exactly fit into an allocated block will contain slack space which some systems include in "size on disk".

I also get the incorrect remaining DNG shot count after switch on which corrects it'self after one shot - think it's a BUG.

This is a major upgrade. Faster, bigger cards (SDHC), Emphasis on FASTER. Start up is almost immediate now. The wait from the shot to being able to review the image is miniscule (~5 seconds before). Auto ISO is interesting and maybe useful. AWB is great still (after 1.2 it has been).
Only ? issue is my coded 50/1.4 ASPH doesn't show up in the exif data on the camera or LR 2.0. So I wonder that might be.....

After many days of testing the new firmware, my favorite feature is the AutoISO. I have been using many different cameras for about 15 years, but it never occurred to me to have a requirement for this feature. Now that the M8 has it I realized how useful it is. For long time I have been working in full manual modes (even on dSLRs) and found it annoying to go to the menu to change the iso if the light levels were not sufficient. Obviously, I don't want to adjust the aperture and shutter speed setting which I want for a certain situation. It is interesting how an automatic feature like the auto ISO is actually enhancing the full manual concept on a camera.
For me it is a huge improvement.
As for the noise improvement, I am not sure about it if there is a change. But I never worried about the noise level (160-1250 ISO) as I like how Lightroom cleans it up and what is left of the noise reminds me to film grain which is to me means an artisticly enhanced photograpgh.
The next big improvement is the ability to use the SDHC cards. Now I can go on a trip with my M8 with 30GB.

Did you shoot JPEGs straight from the camera, as opposed to processing DNGs?

I haven't had time to look in painful brickwall-shooting detail at the before- and after- firmware update shots, but to me the ISO 2500 shots do look cleaner when shooting in JPEG Fine mode. Shooting DNG I saw no change.
 
I think the high ISO noise is about the same. Still very good - especially if cconverted to B&W. Not Nikon D3 good but still quite good.

I agree with you there Gabriel. After a few days now, I see ZERO change in DNG, but JPEGS are cleaner.

The auto ISO mode has been a feature in many P&S digitals for a long time. It is quite useful, but not ground breaking.

Auto ISO has been around in practically every make/model of digital cameras for some time. Not just P&S. I bet you just missed it completely. 😀
