I took advantage of the day off and flew up to San Francisco to snap a few shots with my M8. The more I work with this camera the more I respect this camera, and yet the more questions...

Great pics! I love the 12 mm with the M8...
I asked the question before, I have a Voigtlander Heliar 12mm...would that be the same you are using?
Can't wait to get it on my M8 whenever that returns from Solms

That’s the lens- set it to infinity and leave it there. I lowered the quality on quite a number of shots by relying on zone focus with this lens. Now that I have a handle on how to use it (and not) it's sharp as a tack for an ultra-wide and a perfect match to the M8 photog looking to shoot outside the box.

Great photos Ted, I miss the ultra wide 18mm I used to have on a film SLR, but I don't know if I'd get used to the external finder thingy on a rf, although the VC finders make cool alien looking objects.

#1 is amazing color and moment you captured. I like these tilted buildings. #3 makes me crazy about the inside tilt and stretched people

Pretty much- no crazy PS filters or the like. I simply corrected for WB in Capture One and applied a 10% boost in saturation. This in keeping with the way I dealt with color photography back in my M6 days- take the best picture existing light will allow and then determine the final look you want with the help of repeated trips to an expensive color lab. Only now that color lab is my iBook and the time it takes is minutes not weeks : )
I can't tell you guys how liberating Digital photography has become thanks to the R-D1 and now M8. The learning curve is accelerated at an exponential pace. Also much more fun (for me) then film ever was. I've always enjoyed taking pictures however now it's a passion and FUN!

PS. Thanks for all your encouragement guys. It’ll be a great day when we can just get together here on RFf to share tips on how best to extract the amazing power of the M8.

Nice pictures Ted, I like reading about the M8 and sometimes I think about buying one.
If I bought an M8 I would use it none stop for months then start using my other cameras when the novelity wears off.
The pictures produced are very good.

I don't find the accessory viewer to be an issue on the R-D1s or the M8 on very wide lenses. In fact its bright and gives an accurate enough representation of the final result. I'm able to express images as I see them in my mind's eye so I'm happy.
