I wondered if anyone has experience of the 75mm f2.5 Colour Heliar bolted onto a Leica M6tti or similar Leica M body?. Having just made a large hole in my bank account buying a Leica M6tti and a 35mm Summicrom-M-Asph I cannot afford the Leica Summicron 75mm and a 75mm lens does not get that much use so I wondered if the Voigtlander lens might suffice

I've not used the lens, but according to the Pop Photo test done in 2000 on this lens, it is plenty sharp. It should do quite well. Of course, I suffice with my 1954 9cm F4 Collapsible Elmar.

The Heliar is very good. I have yet to read negative comments about it and have used it happily myself on my M6.

Welcome to the forum !

Roland- Thank you for the info and welcome- I have read good other reports about the lens and as luck would have it The classic Camera just happened to have a mint condition one in yesterday so I asked them to send it to me in the same parcel with my M6 and 35mm Summicron

I also own the Heliar 75/2.5 and love it. The center is plenty sharp from wide open, getting better with stopping down, and the corners pick up by f/5.6...

Watch out for slight pincushion distortion in close-ups, though.

How slight would you say the pincushion distortion was? 🙂

Welcome! Don't worry about lens tests; use a piece of gear and enjoy it. If it gets in your way, then consider replacing it.

Don't worry, none of us here can follow that advice! 😀
