Good evening;

On the recommendation of one of the members I just joined this group. I have been using RF cameras for decades and own and use: Leica, Canon, Olympus, Konica. My favorites are Canon P and VI-L along with Olympus 35DC.

I look forward to the discussions on this list.

Regards, Mike

Welcome.

A few months ago, I was taking pictures of one of our daughters' parties with my Nikon S3 and mentioned to my wife that it might be time to get a digital SLR. She looked at me like I was insane and said, "The cameras you've got now have been working just fine for 50 years."

Thanks for the welcome,

I think I agree with your spouse. For the pure joy of making a fine photograph, I find using a mechanical film camera a more pleasurable experience. If I need a photo quickly or just a snapshot for reference then digital is great.

Three weeks ago I went on a short trip to a small western ranch town to visit some friends. My only cameras on that trip were a 1934 Leica Standard with 50mm Elmar, and a 1938 Zeiss Ikoflex TLR. I even used Kodak Panatomic X with an expiration date of 1982. The photos were just fine.

Welcome, Mike! Enjoy your stay here.

And beware of Joe! He's infected with some virulent P decease and he'll get you addicted to those P's!

But that's nothing compared to all the other types of deceases you could easily catch here: GAS, M-lust, Nikonitis, etc. 🙂

Thank G** we have a strong support group here. That won't do you much good but at least you'll have people to talk to about your afflictions. 😛

Welcome, Mike.

We have been discussing Canon P vs Canon VI-L lately, especially for use with 35mm lenses. I know some members will be looking forward to a comparison.

Good morning from sunny Wyoming;

I just love those old Canons. I started with a 7 in 1966 in Vietnam; used a 7, 7s, and P as a photojournalist in the '70s; have owned various II's, IV's, V's over the years. Currently have Canon III, IIIa (2), P, VI-L with 25f3.5, 35f/1.8, 50f/1.2, 50f/1.8 (2), 100f/3.5 (2). Looking for 85f/1.8 and 100f/2 at reasonable prices or trade.

As for Olympus, I have 35RC, 35DC, and a few non-rf models; also Minolta 7s2, Canonet QL 17 GIII, QL-19, original Canonet with base lever wind, Ricoh 500G and a bunch of old Retinas. The only Leicas I have at the moment are a 1934 Standard & a M-1 with a bunch of old lenses.

Enough for now, thanks for the welcomes from all of you.

Mike

It's a small world. I've bought some RF items from Mike in the past through the Leica users group. Totally a stand-up guy, good to have him here!

howdy Mike.. you really ought to have an XPan for those wide open Wyoming spaces.. let's get with the program, eh? 🙂
