Hi, just as you i´ve seen this new beautiful lens by cosina and wonder what do users think about this new lens...

Of course i did look the steve heuff´s review on the lens, but your opnion is even more important when it comes to "judge" a lens...

So please post your thought on it and if you have photos even better!

Bye and thanks in advance! im terribly tempted to buy one!

:)

I dont have it but it looks like a really nice lens. A must have in silver IMO. Since VM lenses have a high reputation for optical quality especially the previous version of this lens I personally think it could be a winner. However my somewhat negative history with Cosina build quality (4 out of 5 lenses with various problems) would steady my hand to buy one. But plenty of people have not had any problem with their lenses....I dunno....old school chrome? Yeaaaah, me like. More of this please.

M9 Monochrome and VM Nokton 50mm f1.5. Camera set at 320 iso. The camera is a loaner - I am not switching to digital! No post processing.

Again, M9 Monochrome and VM Nokton 50mm f1.5. My "test root" on Locarno Beach. Slightly flat contrast - but that how the M9 sees it (not a bad idea as you can easily "up" the contrast in LR or PS).Again, at 320 iso.
I really like this lens, not only the performance - but also the ergonomics of it. The heavy scalloping of the focus ring makes it easy to grip - and you can switch f-stops by just sliding the finger forward a bit.
I shot this root with both a Summilux 50f1.4 Asph and the VM Nokton and cant really tell them apart (both where shot at about f2.8 and 1/4000s). I suspect that the M-Nokton is going to become my "standard 50 in the future. The C Sonnar 50f1.5 will be kept for its rendering in black/white when I want that "look".
Mine is a black one as most of my bodies are black, but the chrome one looks pretty spectacular on a M3/M2 or any chrome body.
There is a Flickr sie for this lens "New Voigtlander VM 50mm f1.5 Aspherical" and there is samples being uploaded on it all the time.

Tom, you may have just sold me on getting a silver Nokton with that paragraph! :D

Mine should be here tomorrow, who knows since the USPS website seems to have been hacked. I'll have to sell one of my 50s though since I still have a collapsible 'cron on the way and five 50s is too many even for me. Canon 50/1.5 or Summarit 1.5? I'm leaning towards selling the canon. The summarit has too much funky soul to get rid of.

My copy arrived over the weekend (chrome version).

I agree with Tom. The quality and ergonomics appear excellent. The lens has heft; I find the focussing ring design makes image capture straightforward; the aperture ring clicks nicely. Sample images...

Mine arrived on Friday - I'm very impressed so far. One question - does the lens only come with the focusing distance in meters?

Nice to see the film examples.
Im considering replacing my early type 3 summicron (one of the very very early versions with the different focusing ring) with one of these since the summicron is full of haze and fungus (such a shame for such a nice rare version of the type 3). I really shouldnt be looking at these examples because it makes it even more tempting.

Few more for you
