I had the X100, and then when the X100S came out, traded up - but that was a year ago or so and since then the X100S has gotten little use. I got another camera in the meantime and have loved using that one.

The other camera is in the shop for a repair, and in need of a good digital for a trip, I picked up the X100S again. I checked the shutter actuations - I was at 400 (very embarrassing!)

So I took the Fuji and the manual on the plane - remembered how much I liked it, and still do.

I've been using it in Rome the past couple days. just a magnificient piece of equipment. I shot in a church at 3200 ISO 1/13" and the result was outstanding - like seeing in the dark.

The shutter and focus in silent mode are so so so silent, simply incredible.
The operation and menus are simple and intuitive, I just love the ND filter and the ability to use f2.0 in daylight conditions to throw the background OOF

The EVF/OVF is a pleasure to look thru. This camera corrected a couple of flaws in the X100 (which is still a great camera itself)

Actually the only thing I would have changed on the X100S (same as the X100) is the inability to put a lens cap on the camera when the lens hood is on

I still enjoy using my early X100, so much so I never felt the need to upgrade to the X100S. I agree, they both are great cameras and as you show, take great pictures.

Yes you can, you need a 49mm centre pinch-cap. As below

Greyelm, looks as thought you've got some sort of protective case of your camera. What brand is it and how does one obtain one (assuming you like yours).
 
Ted, they sell some decent third-party camera cases in Amazon (where I got mine). The downside is that while the half that carries the camera may fit in well, the cover won't. I use it only to store the camera while traveling (if it's not in my hands or in a camera bag). The Fuji case (IIRC) is too expensive for the little use it gets from me.

Also, Amazon carries a very decent, tough silver lens hood (again, another third-party item) that works well with the camera.
 
BTW, Marc... beautiful images. I wish I had that eye. But I'm also glad you reconciled with this little body. Thanks for mentioning the ND filter! Now I'm going to try it in my X100 and see if it will allow me to shoot with the lens wide open.
