The X-Pro 1 autofocus is faster than the original X100, even after firmware updates for both cameras. The XP1 acquires focus almost like my 5DmkII, though it takes a bit longer to travel full-range close to distant. I've been happy and can't blame missed shots on the AF speed.
I only use focus and recompose in the center area, though.

Thanks David Manning, you've pushed me to about "95% sure to purchase" in the coming weeks

Yikes!
Franz, don't put so much pressure on me! Is there any way to borrow or demo (or even just handle and shoot in a store) an X-Pro 1 before you buy?
I think it's terrific, but I think Fuji's cameras can be polarizing. Just be sure you try before you buy...I'd hate to be left off your Christmas card list!

Hahaha
No pressure. I'm the type who adapts well to cameras. As long as it takes good pictures, Im good! Had an M8 and RD-1 before so manual controls and the form factor won't be too alien to me...
X-pro1, here I come!

To my mind the XP1 is versatile. If you don't need this versatility there is always the XE1. There will be many variations on this theme in the future but, as with the Leicas of yore, you may or may not want to replace a body now and then but the really good lenses will still be there for you. And more on the way!

Just ordered an X Pro 1 and 35mm 1.4 for a song! I'm pretty excited. Now if Tuesday could get here faster.
The X-Pro1 and 35mm 1.4 combo is pretty special. I'm extremely happy with it.

I typically have a hard time buying used, but B&H had the pair for what I consider a steal. Both rated 8+ condition. I've only been burned/had a bad experience with B&H's used department once. Hopefully everything is okay this time around. I'm a really anxious with a tad bit of nervous. I just don't want to be unsatisfied with its condition and send it back and lose time and deal with the headache of it all.
