I have an lx3 and have owned several lumix cameras so this is only brand I want. I want to buy a g series camera and would like to hear everyones experience with theirs. Give me the pros and cons of your lumix please.

I own a G3, I have had SLRs, or DSLRs, so, I am accustomed to OFV, or EFV.
BUT, I find using the LCD very useful at times also. The Tilt/Twist LCD can be versatile if you like Video and Very Low angle shooting.

The G3 and GX-1 share the same sensor.

I have two "cons" with the G3,
  • The Auto-Eye switch on the G1/GH1/G2/GH2 was taken away :(
  • The 4-way for ME, is just a tad to close to where my thumb rests, and can change the ISO w/o noticing it. A thumb bump of whatever it's called, would be nice. I have consider a Leica accessory that goes in the flash shoe that has a thumb hold.
not a Deal breaker, for me..

IF, you prefer a NON-SLR style... the GX-1 Period... Same sensor as the G3...

The GH2, is VERY CLOSE to the IQ of the G3/GX-1... and has a larger hand grip, Ratio correcting over-sized sensor, Input for Mike for Video with External to connect to pro video equipment.

It has the "Auto-Eye" switch on the EFV :)

So, the GH2 may be option to look at also, and the price is dropping a bit. IT IS Panasonic's High End GH series.

I own a G1, GF1, and a G3. I really like them all. I gave the G1 to my wife. The sensor in the G3 is fantastic. Really beautiful IQ. My only fault is that the G3's ergonomics are a bit difficult sometimes, but I am getting used to it. It's handgrip is a lot smaller then the G1. The Lumix lenses are fantastic.

Two G3s for Me!

Two G3s for Me!

I have an LX5 (great little camera), G1, GF1, and now two G3s.

The G3 is phenomenal.

See my Lumix blog (DMC-365.blogspot.com) for some high iso/low light concert images, some tips, and my reasons for going G3.

I really like the Gx1, although I personlly prefer the ep3 just because of the stabilization. But for such a small package the gx1 sure packs a punch..
