Nice to see the Foca one, we've been generally neglected over the years.
Another split might be to make Kiev and FED/Zorki - which are chalk and cheese - have their own forums with one for "other FSU" cameras.
Thanks anyway.

Nice. Thanks, Stephen.
Although I clicked on the thread because I was interested in hearing about the Pany Nikon Foca, which I thought was going to be the one camera I had never heard about, or didn’t own.

Can't say I've ever heard of a Foca, either. Guess I don't keep up any more. I'll take a look.

Is the advance/cocking action done via the shutter speed dial? Also, a bit strange to see on a centralized VF on a RF. Still, very cool cameras and wouldn't mind having one in the collection.

......Any thoughts on other needed, or not needed forums?......
To keep the Canon/Nikon rivalry going, how about a Canon mirrorless sub-forum to go along with the Nikon one?

The more forums you create the more diluted discussion becomes. I think one FSU forum is enough... it's not like anybody is offended by the intermingling of threads about Zorkis and threads about Feds.

Yep, that helps a lot! Thanks, David!

I like the Foca rangefinders because they are so unbelievably strange, and so unknown in the US.
I have NEVER seen a Foca rangefinder WITH a set of lenses at any US camera show or camera shop!
I have been to a lot of shows and camera shops!
I really think Foca designers set out with a blank sheet of paper to be as different from Leica as possible.
That's OK, it makes Foca rangefinders interesting.

Anything to oblige:-
I've not put a film through it as the shiny pressure plate worries me. Naturally when I went to photograph it I wound it on and the blinds jammed open. So another to put in the repair heap...
Some of you will notice the back plate release is very similar to the Leca CL's and the shutter and film are wound on by the shutter speed knob in the middle. Its collar lifts and turns to select a speed like the Zorkis.
Lastly, the focussing scale is fixed to the camera and so is the DoF scale. Interesting is the polite word for it, some would say weird but I can see the logic of a lot of small & unusual details.

Ah, someone else with a dead Foca!
Around 150 Euros to get a shutter serviced apparently, and I'm damned if I can work out how to get into the thing to have a go myself. Ah well, when I get a mo I'll give it a polish... It's the 36mm screw thread that was really annoying.

These are worth a mention as the cameras are so rare (sort of) and you seldom see complete outfits. I just love those cases...
