this is more like the philosophy of gear but...

i am only buying lenses from now on...no more selling lenses!!

no more selling a lens to get another...if i can't afford a new lens then i save /wait and then buy a lens.

That's what I've done for many years now, but inevitably, there's some gear that just never gets used any more. A few years back I sold off $2000 worth or so at Bievres; I've given away a couple of cameras; and I've sold some kit to people who've asked, if I'm already acquainted with them; but I don't advertise it because I just don't want the hassle of dealing with strangers.

Cheers,

R.

I am taking these words you wrote and putting them on a peice of paper, then I am taping it on to my bathroom mirror so I can repeat it over and over every morning. I am really hoping this works.:bang:

Joe: why derive yourself the pleasure of turnover from buying and selling gear? It seems to be something that you really enjoy, at least from this side of my computer monitor. I mean it does not make you fat, cause heart disease, wreck relationships, or even empty your pocketbook. It appears to be an innocent pleasure for you.

not so much fun anymore...can't really say why.
maybe it's the slump i'm in...maybe winter blues...

Stepping out on a limb here, I'm going to proclaim your new plan "dead on arrival."
Of course, I could be wrong. Either way, I really enjoy these sorts of posts that you put up here. Reminds me that there are many of us who struggle with issues related to the buying and selling of gear.

Hmmm. I've never sold a lens, but I have given away several, have some out on permanent ... well, extended loan, and even broken some. That sort of attrition is sufficient to keep the collection managable. Plus I am poor, so I cannot afford many lenses. None-the-less, I seem to have lenses I never use.

Selling them though, just seems so mercenary.
