I'm hoping they paid Tuulikki for the use of Toms design (could be hers too, I apologize in advance as I mean no disrespect).

Very cool

Interesting. It looks like a slightly different design because the trigger looks more offset to the right compared to the nearly centered one on the Rapidwinder. The trigger has edges whereas the one on the Rapidwinder is rounded. Also, the latch looks like a stamped disc whereas the one on the Rapidwinder is nicely machined, and is user adjustable to match it to the camera, if I remember correctly. These new ones are missing the dual tripod sockets too.

Looks more like a Leicavit M clone.

I pulled out my Leicavit & indeed the details make it a Leicavit copy....so i guess LLL won't be sending Leica Camera AG a check ;)

I had an original Leicavit for my IIIf once upon a time, and one of Tom A's rapid winders for my M6TTL. Both worked well, at certain times, but I never found that I really enjoyed what they did so much that I would leave them on the camera all the time.

I'm more likely to get an M Winder for the M4-2 than a Rapidwinder clone. And I doubt that will ever happen anyway...

As a left-eyed shooter, i use the Leicavit on my M4 quite often

Very nice rapidwinder..I have enough Canon cameras with that feature to squelch any inkling or urge to put one on my Leica M4-2

Hi, has your M4 been modified to use the leicavit. And is it the LLL leicavit on your pic. thanks

Yes, When I bought the camera it was in need of a CLA, so I called around and DAG was the only person who had parts...so he did the conversion. The
Leicavit is the Leica Historical Society (2005) version by Leitz. (I see the black paint with the script logo listed for crazy money now).
LLL would never be allowed to use Leica's trademark on their products.
