The forum is now using Enhanced Search, so search results, believe it or not, are actually providing REAL RESULTS for a change!

Previously, for example, a search for M3 (a very common thing to search for on a rangefinder site!) was not even possible because it's only two characters.

Now, try searching for "M3" and see the results that appear!

Not only that, but when you create a new thread, a list of similar threads will appear. This will help streamline things, prevent duplicate threads, or encourage posters to reply to existing threads when the context applies.

Note that I have also installed a Google search option. To perform a Google search, click on Search, then Advanced Search, and you'll see a Google Search text entry box.

Thanks to @MP Guy for the install and @CameraQuest for covering the expense of Enhanced Search!

Note that the enhanced search covers NIKON... I just tried SP for the search parameter. Nailed It.

Especially important now that we are hosting NHS...

Very nice! IIRC, a number of more advanced search functions were previously broken. Still, I did notice that an advanced, title-only search for anything containing the word "coffee" dating from 1 August 2025 or newer, only returned a single result. But at this point, is it worthwhile to do an arduous re-indexing of the date fields, I'm thinking probably not.

Already done. The new code completely reindexes based on new criteria. Greater weight is placed on more recent posts (within 2 years.)

“ the search relevance algorithm will be weighted towards newer results based on the half-life value. A document submitted today will be twice as relevant as an identical one submitted a half-life ago.”
