I remember that very recently a new chrome Nikon S3 2000 kit was sold for a BIN $1800 USD on that auction site by Matsuiyastore.
Has anyone seen a new chrome S3 kit sell for that price or less?

Hell, German import taxes!! :bang:

But they are maybe not as high as in Finland: VAT or sales tax is here 22%, which is calculated from total including shipping cost and customs duty, if I'm buying - or importing - goods outside EU. Customs duty is from 3.2 % to 4.9 %, if film cameras or lenses are coming outside EU.

I'm not on expert on these, but that's how it went last time, when I bought a lens from USA.

You're right Jani, but we approaching to Skandinavian taxes... 19% of the total (purchase+shipment) plus 4.9% add-on customs to the total.
Plus it takes 2 extra weeks and I need to drive 30kms to my customs office to get the stuff...

OK. Our custom and post office are maybe more efficient and friendly. 🙂 I received the notice of arrival (a black Nikkor-S 5cm/1.4 from USA) less than a week from shipping. I went to local custom office just 5 minutes before their closing time. All paper work was done in about 15 minutes, I payed the tax and custom fees and got the lens.

Here is a EU webpage of custom TARIC codes if you are interested http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_custom...&Country=US/0400&YesNo=1&Indent=0&Action=1#OK

By the way, how often you will find a new Nikon S3 2000 kit inside EU? Those which I have seen cost about Eur 2.500.

🙂 Hey Guys, specially German and Finland Guys, not complained too much of your customs, the taxes in Italy pile to 30%:bang: , and items received after 60 gg.:bang: Someone of you has acquired from matsuyastore? he is a serious and corrected vendor?

Yes, as Brian says - do buy them! 🙂 I'm the person selling these NEW cameras and there has been a lot of interest ( I should charge per view and I would not have to sell them! 😀 ) and a few 'I want it', but when it comes down to it, seems no one has the actual cash at this time; although February has been declared ' Nikon Month', maybe spring and tax return time...

Maybe I should swallow the bullet and become a Nikon RF collector/user 😱 . I can't tell you how hard it is to have these cameras around and not use one, but I'm waiting for the dust to settle [ and hopefully ] with a couple sales can afford to keep one of these really beautiful cameras 😀 .

And what's that, NO PROBLEM with International buyers? And a Millenium Nikkor 50mm F1.4?

Well, ANYBODY that has an SP-2005 should buy it to get that lens and have a back-up body.

The price of an Oympic Nikkor alone is over $2,000! And it is not even Multicoated!

Did you sell the case seperately, or just decide to keep it? It is a nice case.

Hi Brian,

NO Problem with international buyers! I've shipped equipment to just about everywhere and never had a lost or damaged item, Japan Post EMS is great.

By not including the case I'm just trying to get the price down to the point someone can actually buy this and not just admire it from afar. I'll keep the case unless someone wants it. It is a very nice case and was available as a 'special order' only when the order for the chrome S3 2000 is placed, so I don't think you can find them other than paired with one of the limited edition, so many times you do find the camera/lens does come without it.

Camera is still available. And there is the black S3 too, but I hesitate to lower the price on that at this time.

Don't lower the prices too much. Someone will buy them sooner or later. 🙂 By the way, how much was the chrome S3 set price dropped from the previous price, when it's without the case? Was it just US$ 50?

The black paint version has become very hard to find - not as many made, that BP look, and not as expensive as the BP SP is my guess.

As for the chrome S3 price, it was listed at $2050 in the classifieds here before I put it at the $1900 price without the case ( I'd have to check, but I think the original Nikon order price was around $250 for the case ).

Hay Brian,

I think he has! Sale pending on the chrome S3

that is good news Gregory.
try selling the black S3 sans case,
it might go quick.
I suspect that if you try lining up five or four chrome S3 2000, & if they can be priced in the $1800ish range, you will find buyers here.

Now Gregory, the most important question is which Nikon are you going to keep?🙂

Hi Mike,

Another hard part ( besides selling it seems ) is picking a Nikon RF from these two. With both the S3 and SP here I'm leaning towards the SP, with the 35 that come with it as one of the main incentives ( I like 35s ). But if I don't have any takers on the BP S3 I may switch horses. No doubt the new 50 Nikkor is a lens to have on a Nikon RF, its just that I have this new pre-ASPH Summilux on my M4 which I love. I have seen the new 50 Nikkor sold separately a couple times ( but not the 'paired' SP's Nikkor 35 ), so I know its at least a remote possibility to pick it up at a later time.

That's great news.

An SP-2005 and an S3-2000 together. That is a winning combination.

Put the 50 on the SP and the 35 on the S3. That way you do not have to shift your eye to the Auxiliary finder.

I'd thought of this too Brian, But both new S3 and SP 😱 I have to be realistic and the costs do become a factor, its enough of a stretch getting the SP and if I had more marbles up top I'd just be happy with the S3. And I have my eye on a S2 at the used camera shop here if I need a 2nd body, or even as a 1st body, old camera have a nice 'feel' to them.

The 35mm f 1.8 Nikkor is also a superb lens.
I wonder if the new version has improved much from the 1956 model.
I am sure it has improved coatings.
You certainly cannot beat an SP Gregory, it is the ultimate in Nikon RF cameras.

From what Tom A. said, there is not as much difference between the original 1.8/35 and the new ( same glass configuration formula I understand, probably new glass types ) multi-coated version compared to the old 1.4/50 and the new version 'olympic' 50.

That said, I expect the new 35 to be 'as good as it gets' for Nikkor RF 35 glass. Maybe my ideal old style 'smooth look' with a bit higher 'modern' contrast and flare control.

Unfortunately all speculation on my part till I finally decide on a body.

wow, some photo stores in Tokyo are selling the Nikon SP 2005 kits in the $3300 to $3750 range.
that is quite a bargain.
