Joe, maybe you mean it all better than it sounds , I am willing to asume it. But one thing is for sure:
To keep all negative remarks as a "small fire" is a pretty totalitarian understanding of the moderation job. If this word is too strong for you I'd say it is as at least undemocratic.
Not all who have to say something negative are arsonist here !! And the my feel violated because you treat them as arsonist ! Even negative remarks have to be considered differentiated and with respect.
To put these "fires" out with verbal dynamite is perceived as violence, and violence generates more violence, as we all know. Not a constructicve thing, this fire brigade job.

i'm not sure how 'bad' it sounds...i understand your argument that i may be undemocratic, i do not believe it to be true. but then, it's very hard to see oneself in a poor light.
i will say, that i rather deal with people who can see more than their own side to an issue. it does get tiresome hearing the negative, would you not rather hear the positve? i am not talking universal truths here but i think it's clear that people were trying to be supportive of jorge and the work he is putting into this site. is that so bad that some have to say, 'wait, hold on till the work is done before we say thanks?'

bertram, i'm honestly not trying to fight with you. maybe my sense of fairness or justice is very different from yours.

It's great to be able to see the gallery again. I really missed checking out gallery images. As a side note- I think the black background was much better for viewing. The white BG seems a little stark.

No Joe

I do not think that I have to be "a bit supportive of the moderators".

And if I do not expect a moderator saying "I'm just getting sick & tired of this crap!"

Joe, you are one of the good guys. Cool.

This is a commercial site which breaks down once a month, yet still somebody recently wanted us to contribute to a new camera for the owner.

It beggars belief.

if you mean me...i'm not the owner.
i am a volunteer moderator.

and while i appreciated the generosity, it was not my idea. i was a passenger on a fast moving train.

Thanks to all, specially back alley and Bertram for explaining. I didn't think of being negative, just asking questions that came up to me these days. I wasn't aware that asking was undesired behaviour. Never did I intend to put fire, neither small nor large. I apologize.

I know, Joe, you do this for us.

But cut us a little slack please. And allow that Jorge has a business running here.

i guess that i don't see the business part of it.
maybe i'm niave but i doubt that there is a profit here to be made.

but i understand, some slack is on the way.

T. Of course it's not democratic, how can it be and what right do we have to expect it to be so?
I think Joe has understood what I wanted to say , so this is an extra tour for you personally:

We got no parliament here, no. And nobody would be goofy enuff to expect Jorge to install one . Trivial.
Democratic meant in this context only not to treat everybody as an arsonist or saboteur, just because his opinion about anything concerning this site is negative.
Even those people earn a minimum of respect. To call their opinions B.S. or crap , already in the very first reaction, does not proof any respect of other peoples opinions.
And this kind of respect is a democratic element, without it our western social and political systems would not work .

Jon, I highly doubt Jorge makes a dime from this site. What little revenue comes from ads probably goes right out the door for services. At most, he's making enough to pay for film.

I don't think Bertram2 realizes what happens if you get out the blue paint! 😱

No. On second thoughts, it's just plain rude.

You said :

t's Jorge's site, and he does a fine job with limited resources. Of course it's not democratic, how can it be and what right do we have to expect it to be so?

This had nothing to do at all with what I had said and meant tho I used the word "undemocratic".
I took your comment as mixing up things intentionally with a derisive and schoolmasterish remark , taking this word "undemocratic" out of the context, as if I had demanded the forum must be democratic, an outstanding stupid idea this would be indeed.
So next time , if you want to fire off again flattering remarks for the owner and the staff , don't do that by misquoting one of my comments. THAT is what I understand as "rude".
