To quote Archimedes: “Give me a place to stand and with a lever I will move the whole world.”
This is looks like a nice lever - your hand movements will be increased at the sensor. It also looks awkward to hold. However - it looks good!

I wonder what the deal is... panoramic camera?

Hmmm... 49 filter to 58 filter... the barrel OD:lens OD is appreciably greater than on the DP2M. Could it be? FF?

It is so "out there" though -that I can't help but think it is just a design study.

I agree with burancap. Very interesting, I could learn to like this. I do have my doubts but who knows ?
If this is real, I wonder what the specs and performance are like ?

It's sort of phenomenally beautiful. Though I am not on board with the placement of that righthand strap lug. Ergonomics look a bit iffy/does it need to be so long? Looks like the thread dia change is only to make room for the IR lamp.

I don't believe it's real, even with the photo sites all saying it's legit. (And if it is, I want one. And it's a good way to get people talking/interested).

sigmas insistance on not providing any evf option makes continuation of this product line a nonstarter for many. these are niche products anyway, so further narrowing that niche for no apparent reason is both quite confusing and profit limiting. having an 'add on' evf would not eliminate anyone who is already disposed to the product the way it is, but would enable an expansion to a segment that will not consider a quality camera without that option.
