[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

Any body here received a bad news ?
I received an e-mail from Kevin telling me that the lens i reserved in black won’t be ready right now since the factory could not provide him more black paint lenses in this group, even if i filed the form and got confirmed first.

Interesting. I have ordered black as well, but no news so far (neither good nor bad).

It's a tiny operation and inevitably delays and changes occur. I changed email address and forgot to tell Kevin which delayed mine.

We are getting something quite special so hang on in there everyone, your time will come!

I’m following this project from the begining and always kept asking Kevin who confirmed i will get my lens since i received and filed the order form. Two friends of mine already received there lens but by the way i’m just unlucky...
Unfortunatly Kevin can’t make nothing, he just depends on the factory’s capacity...Let’s wait !

I went with the flow to make sure that I will get a lens soon. With COVID-19 around and the "other issues", there is no guarantee of a fast delivery. I want to use the lens and not to showcase it. Brass finish looks nice, but if it will take a long time to make and then mail such lenses, I prefer getting a black or chrome lens. Oh well.

I'd understand the frenetic anticipation coming from someone who's never held, owned or used a 35 Summicron 8 element or Summaron ƒ/2.8.

But you're one of the Fortunate Few with the real deal. Why is it so urgent?

I want the lens to have Flint Glass in it. There is no guarantee that later batches will use this glass type again.
It is not an urgent issue to me. I enjoy using such special lenses. Brian Sweeney custom adapted many lenses for me. Some are "one of a kind", he would tell me. I use them.

I’m in no rush either and waiting on a black paint version. As long as Kevin and the people make it keep themselves safe while finishing them up, that’s all that matters. It’ll come when it comes. I’m pretty sure we all have M-mount lenses to use in the meantime.

Hi Rudy, thank you for your understanding. I am trying my best to push production. Unfortunately, the factory's production capacity has been unable to increase. Because they also don't want to make products that can't satisfy customers. They really spent a lot of time in the final manufacturing process. I believe that all waiting is worthwhile.

UPDATE:

I keep receiving new emails asking about the availability of the first batch. I am sorry that they all have been reserved long ago. We stopped accepting new orders last year. Please just wait for the second batch.

Best,
Kevin

Seems like there is an easier way to manage this than using a thread on the forum.

How about create a spreadsheet with a list of customers (first name, last initial) and post it here as to which batch, ship date, and other relevant info?

Just use a link to google sheets...

Your role in this process is very important. Keep up the good work, Kevin.

Completely agree with Raid. Kevin has been upfront and outstanding during this entire project, especially in light of the worldwide pandemic and all the logistics involved. Another thanks to Kevin.

Dave

The circumstances are special, and a personal intervention is sometimes needed by Kevin to move the delivery process forward. Kevin also checks out the product quality.

I think Kevin’s workload from this project is already way more than Kevin initially anticipated. Let’s not make more work for him.

Here’s another idea. How about everyone just waits until they hear from Kevin, and stop pestering him with emails while they’re at it.

I have received an email from DHL this morning!

I am looking forward to the DHL delivery this month.

I own many really good lenses, but this one is special to me. We all witnessed the birth of this project, followed by the massaging of details and cosmetics and performance checking.
