[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

Emile, With a quick scan on a 13" screen and without blowing up the images, I'm impressed. IMO the LLL acquits itself pretty well in the company of the Leica-made lenses. The pre-Asph Summilux looks to be the weakest of the lot as far as centre sharpness at f2 & f4.

Emile de Leon, very interesting combo! I look forward to seeing photos from this combination, and your personal feelings, Is it comfortable to work with the manual lenses on the Sigma fp?

Emile...a very well performed informative test with these four lenses. I too would like to see the same test but outdoors under natural light at either mid-distance or infinity. I suspect we'll see a little more separation between the lenses including color temp and possibly shadow detail. Thanks very much for posting these initial comparisons.

They are all excellent. The coolest in colour temperature is the Summaron on the corners (fall off). The Summicron Replica is very even for colour and will be good for black and white. The Replica is the second coolest on colour.

It doesnt matter what lens you use..why?...its too close to get up in arms about..
..
But for $600-..the LLL might be the last 35mm you will ever need..its a real cracker of a lens! Small sharp..well built..what more could you ask for.

I agree. My first negatives look really good & i look forward to printing in the next day or two. I am particularly impressed with the build quality.

Seems the LTM version has materialized but if I want to buy it I will have to let go of my Schneider Kreuznach Xenotar MF for Exakta 66 and Pentacon Six it seems, or I will not be able to afford it.

This has kept me occupied for weeks now... ouch.
