[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

My lens is about to be mailed to me from NY by Kevin. He has approved of the lens, and I appreciate such care being taken.

Lucky boy, Raid. Look forward to seeing what you can do with it.

As a 65 year old "boy", I will try to take good photos with it. 😀
By taking many photos outside Joe Patti's Seafood over the past years, using many lenses will allow comparisons to be made. I may have used over 20 RF lenses there. This included Canon 35/2 35/1.5; V1 Summicron; 35/2 Zeiss.

I'm curious, how many people preordered the multi-coated version of the replica 8 element? I know I did. I wonder whether the single-coated lenses will all ship out first, and then multi-coated?

😛 Boys and girls with new toys are still boys and girls irrespective of age. Enjoy it.

got my email from Kevin yesterday too, sent him the payment so I should hopefully be receiving my copy soon.
very excited to try the lens out.

Most likely so. It was suggested to me to pick SC for a faster delivery. The SC is also more similar to the V1 Summicron.

Could be.

Like a few others who have posted in the past few hours, I have received the email from Kevin. He specifically said the factory had prepared a batch of chrome lenses (which was my requested color) and so my turn had come. In the email, Kevin also asked to confirm the engraving, so it seems there's an opportunity to change your mind if you are having second thoughts on the engraving.

Also, not sure if this has been posted already, but DHL is now the default shipping option.

I went with the flow to make sure that I will get a lens soon. With COVID-19 around and the "other issues", there is no guarantee of a fast delivery. I want to use the lens and not to showcase it. Brass finish looks nice, but if it will take a long time to make and then mail such lenses, I prefer getting a black or chrome lens. Oh well.

I'm in no rush, as I already have lenses so I wanted to make sure I get exactly want I want, with custom engraving.
Just curious as to the ETA. I actually would not mind if the brass was uncoated. Patina would be cool.

Any body here received a bad news ?
I received an e-mail from Kevin telling me that the lens i reserved in black won’t be ready right now since the factory could not provide him more black paint lenses in this group, even if i filed the form and got confirmed first.

This is not good for you and anyone else in your group.
It is for such a reason that I quickly said Yes to getting on time a black lens.

It looks like there’s a small shipment (2–4 lenses?) every month. Order confirmation around the 15th, then payment, then shipment around the last weekend of the month, with receipt around the end of the first week of the next month.
