[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

I agree, Raid. I see a little extra contrast in most of the replica images, but maybe that's due to the slight haze in the original Summicron. The color temperature difference between the two lenses is quite remarkable in your test!

The Summicron does well if/when some added contrast is used in PP. I posted all images as I got them from the M9. The photos were taken a few minutes apart. The replica is a fine lens if we accept the Summicron is a fine lens. The lenses have different coatings. My replica is also SC.

I wonder if the lens maker will still make a Noctilux replica or not. I am in line for one.
I am happy with the Summicron replica.

I want a set of two fast lenses, a 35mm and a 50, that use the same caps and hoods, so I can change them really fast and with the utmost ease. If they have different caps and hoods, then changing the lens is too much hassle. As a result, I lose the pleasure in photography. It is than better to go out with one lens, but that is a bit boring. When I get these kinds of thoughts, the concentration needed for shooting is gone.

I am not this particular about such factors. The 35mm lens is on the M9 while the rigid Summicron is on the M8. Both lenses are with hoods.

(answering raid): Yes, but then you must take two cameras with you. And a 50mm lens is different on an M8 than on an M9. The image field of an M8 is smaller, so a 50mm lens on an M8 is like a 75mm on an M9.

I would like to have one camera with two lenses, a 35mm and a 50mm. When the lenses share hoods and lens caps, life would be easier, but in reality this is quite hard to achieve, because the lenses have different sizes and viewing angles. Rear caps is no problem, but I would like to have two identical lens hoods (as small as possible) to use on both the 35mm and the 50mm. These hoods must accept a lens cap on the front.

I am now testing the 12550 lens hood from Leitz (that is made for the Elmar-M) on the replica, but I am afraid that it vignettes or produces dark corners.

The 50mm lens gives a 67mm view on the M8, with the 1.33 crop factor. Right? Are you seeing it differently? Why?

I can understand your wish to use one camera and two lenses. I have a Leica lens hood that fits both the 35mm and 50mm Summicron lenses. Dark corners may be present, as you have said.
I have several Leica lens hoods. This is one of them.

This lens hood also fits, and it is generic.
