I not only love the look of the images you took of the lenses Kevin, but the red (velvet?) 12 compartment box they sit in. If we call it a bakers dozen, does that mean there is one extra lens just out of the frame? 🙂.

OK, question for everyone...which is better, a box of 12 chocolates or a box of 12 of these lenses 🙂. I know my answer!

I dreamed about a set like this for years! Two great performing small brass lenses of 50mm and 35mm, Leica M mount, black painted, with fixed hoods and caps and of the highest mechanical and optical quality.

Typically, neither of them is made by Leica.

Color Skopar 50mm f/2.5 by Cosina and 35mm f/2 by LLL.

Whow! That Color Skopar is small. I once had one in a Nikon S mount -- small like all Nikon S mount lenses -- but I just assumed the LTM mount would be bigger. That's a very practical lens.

This lens is excellent with colour, although I'm not entirely happy with these scans I made but the Summicron Replica has very high resolution and it has great contrast even wide open on film.

These are nice shots. You got a lot of keepers out of this first test roll. It's fun to see everyone's different perspectives and environments when testing this lens.

Very nice pictures!!! I like all of them. The colors looks great to me. Brings vintage look to the pictures. I have to say that kids playing in the playground is the one that I like the most!

I would like to put in a plug here for the Cosina 50/3.5 Heliar. An almost tiny lens (mine is Nikon S but used on my M's with an adapter), it is an extraordinary performer. Sharp, creamy bokeh, old-timey to a degree, but wonderful images. With something like an M10, f/3.5 is enough. The only downsides are the rotating barrel and lack of click stops, but one adjusts.

Here is about 50% of a shot I took about 10 days ago, at f/3.5.

A beautiful image, Ed. A cute child too!
I have a CV 50/3.5 Heliar from the first release for Leica cameras.

Thank you, Raid. My go-to 50 has become the Apo Summicron M ASPH, but the Heliar is as good and much lighter. With both lenses, I can crop and get approximately the FOV of a 90mm lens without much loss of detail at all. So here, old guy that I am, I sat on a chair and followed the little girl as she moved around her yard, while we adults sat - socially distanced - and drank our beers. The best of both worlds — good Vermont IPA and mages of sweet little one.

Looking at the engraving, it looks like early V1LC used a different typeface than these later V1LC and the V2LC we saw last week.

If I understand the discussion about the Brueguet lens some days ago, the first and second series both use flint glass. The non-flint glass ones have not commenced production.

If different glass is used, then the formula must be changed too. Why they choose for flint glass in the first place?

Btw, a complete lens never contains only one kind of glass. Many Leitz lenses (and others) from the fifties and sixties contain four or five different kinds of glass.

Because of environmental measures the use of many of those glasses is now forbidden.

The use of lead containing flint glass in this lens must be seen as a kind of experiment as I understand it.

The "normal" production later on will be of glasses without lead or other heavy metal in them if I understand this well.

Erik.
