[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

Waterlenz, good thing you have a reason for having 4s in your serial number. Interestingly mine is exactly 100 lenses after yours, but we both got ours at the same time, more or less. Mine is black though, while yours is chrome.

I will do a shot of it on an M4 later showing it which is 424/500. It was one of several possible combos for my BD.

Perhaps someone can illuminate me as to what's the great fuss over serial numbers?
So, they kept all the lucky 8's for China and sent out the 'harbinger of death' 4's to Europe and America.

The story has a familiar ring to it....

FWI, it is because all the "good" numbers were picked by the first group of Mr. Zhou's supporters. Most of them are Mr. Zhou's friends. They gathered together and continue supporting the project from the beginning. They placed the order way earlier than us since this project started a few years ago. They are all Chinese, and they so believed in the so-called "lucky number". The rest of the serial number are randomly assigned. To be honest, I am a bit surprised that people here also believe in it. I won't comment on this any further since this is not in my control.

Best,
Kevin

I put a B+W filter on mine without any grabbing.
However, I found the lens wouldn't mount nicely onto a CL, so I didn't force it, but perfectly to an M9 and MP. Perhaps it's just my CL.
Like Trung Nguyen I also would have preferred the tin container, but I'll takes what I can gets, and the soft case is pretty good, apart from being way oversized.
I repeat: Kevin has done a wonderful job of distributing this lens to so many needy customers. Thank you Kevin.

Thank you. 🙂 I am glad you are happy with the lens.

I got my lens in the mail yesterday. It looks great. One minor quibble, and I'm curious to know if others have experienced this. The first thing that I did when I got the lens was put a filter on it.

What I noticed when I put the filter on was that half of a rotation would be looser than the other half of the rotation, which was sort of tight. Like the threads are not evenly spaced.

Hi Brad, once again, I am very sorry about the filter issue you have. This is really the first time that I heard about it. I already report this issue to the factory manager, and I complained about it. They told me they will pay more attention to this detail and will prevent this from happening again.

From now on, I will also test the filter ring on every single lens.

I "discovered" the use of 4 in our orders, but it is for me unimportant and not an issue at all. The lens is awesome and the selling price is excellent.

Obviously if you're picking first in China, you'd avoid anything with a 4. So the 4 numbers are all left overs.

BTW if you're really into this, 9 is a good number for the Chinese too since it's imperial. 7 pairs well with 8. 6 means smooth. 5 is orderly. 3 is half of 6. 2 indicates good staff come in pairs. And everything starts with 1. Even 4 can be nice, since you got four heavenly directions...

Maybe we should run a course on it?

how these lenses weigh up...
U27021I1598348154.SEQ.0.jpg

231 gramms - so much for being the light lab . . . (I'm sure they did not want to show the real weight 244 gram ;-) that has been reported by some, that looks not a good number?)

I can only express my own personal feelings. My lens serial number looks good (never knew it had so many meanings), it's weight, size and construction just perfect and love the images it produces. The icing on the cake is all Kevin has done and the extrodinary way he's handled everything and the entire transaction. All I can say is thank you!

My lens has the number 194.

"Thus, the number 1 energy adds self-determination, independence, and exploring new ways of doing things. The number 9 energy adds humanitarianism, tolerance, and philanthropy. And the number 4 energy adds pragmatism, conscientiousness, and a focus on building a secure foundation for the future."

My lens has the number 194.

The energy a numerology number represents can be thought of as the number's essence, its basic tone or vibration. As an overview, the essence of the number 194 is a composite containing the ideas of:

Expression of Personal Freedom
Adventure
Self-determination
Humanitarianism
Conscientiousness
Curiosity
Independence.

Not bad!

What about its star sign? And when would you date its birth? At order, payment, delivery?

Of course if you use the Chinese Horoscope ours are all rats, which happens to be what I am, so feeling pretty chuffed.

1 = independence
9 = broad mindedness and strength and generosity
4 = stability and hard work
All 3 #'s added and brought down to lowest common denominator = 5 which is self actualization and science
Stress #'s are 8/5/3 which means..no money to be made with this lens..and communication and actualization will be difficult..
The challenge is..how to not have this as a shelf queen..and actualize its potential..

How's that ?..lol..

You must be working with the "no replica group" to push potential users away from this lens! 😱😎
