[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

I received my two lenses today, they are well made, I ordered two copies just want to support this bold project, never think this lens became so popular now.

Many thanks to Kevin to help arrange transaction and shipment.

BTW DHL will file custom clearance and ask your SSN if goods from China over 800 and I paid near $120 import tax too.

where are you located? US I presume?

and $120 tax is for 1 or 2 lenses?

The correct term may be tariff rather than import tax. I don't believe the US collects a VAT or GST as found in many other countries. Also consider the current US-China trade war may incur additional tariffs. After all, there's now ~25% tariff on German made optics and why Leica is reissuing many of their M lenses as made in Portugal versions for the US market.

This is a super cool lens, particularly if they come out with an LTM version. And "Teddy", Jose, or whoever you are! ...That is a prize winning seascape! I'm sold on this lens - the photos posted here do the talking!

Thank you David for you comment - CMS 20ii does capture that light irridesense from the sky from what I remember. It was cold and windy.
Jose or Teddy is fine. Some call me HoseB - ha ha.

I've never heard of an import tax for goods bought overseas for private use. The only time I had this scam ran on me was a camera package shipped through UPS from Sweden.

There actually are all sorts of duties on thousands of imported products, regardless of private or any other use.

They are rarely collected if shipped to an individual via the post, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t valid or don’t exist.

FedEx, UPS, DHL will usually collect and also charge brokerage fees to import these items.

in that case import tax is very low; only VAT I assume. (or GST in some martkets)
in my case VAT is 10% of declared value. Import tax is close to zero.

Lucky you, in most of EU countries VAT is >20% and there is also a duty tax. I paid 153€ in taxes, but I expected this 🙂
DHL or not it does not matter...

Nice work, that first one with the umbrella is incredible!

Thanks! Love the way this lens treats really bright highlights, there's a very subtle glow that takes the edge off. Here are two more:

What are the details in the paperwork they provided to you on delivery? IIRC, DHL doesn't itemize this in their notification email, but should be on the paperwork.
