[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

M4, Orwo N75. I really enjoy this lens:

The lens is great and has just that 1960's rendering that makes it different from all the modern offerings with aspherical elements. I love the lens.

Good to hear from you again, Kevin. It's been a long wait, but I'm eagerly awaiting any updates on delivery of the first batch. I still haven't gotten a reply about payment, but I assume that will come when the lenses have been tested and are ready.

On a separate note, does anyone know if the 35mm auxiliary finders are available yet through LLL?

I am glad that I managed to get such a lens. It is a "modern vintage" lens, so to speak.

Pardon my off-topic question, but how are you scanning your prints for the web? They always look fantastic!

Probably, real slick marketing. I hadn't looked at the ad closely at all, but now that i do, it just has the initials 'H.C.B edition and it is only Bellamy's ad that uses H Cartier-Bresson's name. And Limited Edition 135/200....
It makes you wonder who bought the edition, or if LLL themselves started the marketing. Oh well, there's no longer a concern about glass type 😉

....& if Bellamy has #135..... who bought & sold the prior 134?
You guys kill me with that H.C.B. edition LLL replica and such... 😛
Want something to rave about ? The Graal is on the photo below, which I took at the end of the last century (May 1990), and, cherry on the cake, with the real thing ! 😱 😎

I am just wondering if everyone who ordered through Kevin has gotten his/her copy of this lens. I started seeing copies in the used market more and more now, in the price range of $1,300 0 $1,500.

zleica, I'm near the end of the run. Kevin mentioned in post #4049 that he has dozens of lenses ready to test. I received notice and paid in mid Dec....so hopefully mine is in there. Yes there have been lenses showing up for sale in various places, but the majority are V2 lenses, whereas the ones spoken for through RFF, are V1. There is an odd one though in the USA that is engraved 'summicron.' I'm guessing we'll see some among our batch delivered between the end of the Chinese New Year holiday and spring.

Deardorff38, thank you very much. The one you mentioned from NY has just been advertised in here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1688095

I don't know if it's V1 or V2.

Guys - be patient, it is well worth the wait. I love mine, I see it just like my Summicron 35/2 in performance. Actually when I am trigger happy and glance at both lenses thinking what I'm going to shoot - I think, colour or black and white. I go Replica for colour. Then a second later - no, I want an original lens to handle - the Original, but wait - the original is an incy wincy bit less contrasty - Replica... But Replica is also sublime for black and white... No, I'll take both... But I'm supposed to be simplifying - take one camera - Replica - but then I'll miss the Original... ... Arrrggggghh!!!! GAS GAS GAS!!!

Yes I'm waiting also and believe mine is in the batch Kevin might be currently sorting through. From some youtube videos I've watched, most people seem happy with the use of the lens, so should be worth the wait 🙂
