Hi All,

I'm new here on the forums and new to the R-D1. Just picked one up from a fellow member here and I have been slowly picking up some lenses. Its my first rangefinder so its all new. Focusing has been a learning curve, but I'm slowly getting used to it.

I've picked up the following lenses:
CV15mm f4.5
Cv 28mm f1.9
Leica 5cm f2 Summar
waiting for CV 40mm f1.4

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and here are a couple shots:

Maybe I'm just in a good mood from the RNC photo thread, but I found the first shot pleasing, almost humorous. For me it pulls out emotions surprisingly well for not having any people in it. The portrait is also nice (could use the focus on the eyes like you mentioned).

checked your site. even most are family pictures, they blow me away how good they are. You definitely have an eye. much better pictures than many many pros, believe me.
 
Wow. I just looked at your gallery and the shots are fantastic. The color is marvellous. Almost slide-like to my eyes. How much post-processing did you apply?. Almost all the RD1 pics I've been looking lately have this tonality. Never could get this kind of tones from my DSLR.
I'm waiting for the announcement of a new DRF, but everytime I see what the RD1 can do (in the proper hands, of course), I think that it might not be a bad idea to buy one.

Only the last 2 shots on my site are from the R-D1. Previous shots were taken with the Nikon D300 (which I regretably sold) and older shots taken with the Canon 5D.

I am still getting used to the R-D1 and I gave up all the dslrs. I have no regrets but there is definitely a learning curve. The D300 was the best camera I've used so far however it was too bulky and in some respects it was just too easy!

So back to basics with the R-D1. Makes you work a bit more and is very rewarding.

Hmm, the first picture feels more ominous than humorous to me! Looks like the dog is gazing into the distance at an approaching storm. Must be a difference in the viewer's mood.... 🙁

At any rate, I love the picture -- welcome and enjoy!

Yes, it would have been great if I nailed the focus. f2 and dim lighting made it hard to focus, especially getting used to the rangefinder. Its hard to calculate DOF without seeing it.
 
i happen to really love the look of the second shot and could care less about focus issues. in fact, i think it works better soft... there's a wistfulness about it that draws you in. sweet!

Like you, many of us just started in this RF world...those who came from the DSLR having most of the same problems and concerns!!!Loved the first photo.I´m waiting for my 12/5.6 and the 28/2.....35 just became too short!!Great photos at your site......you´re not alone😀
