I'VE JUST BOUGTH AN "as new" Voigtlander Wide Angle Ultron 28mm f/1.9...WITHOUT VIEWFINDER..
THE FACT IS: DO I REALLY NEED OF THE VIEWFINDER ON THE R3A,CONSIDERING THAT THE 28 IS MY FAVOURITE AND OBVIOUSLY MORE USED LENS?
I'LL TRY TO BE CLEARELY: I STILL DON'T HAVE THE CAMERA,AND SINCE I BOUGHT THE LENS AND THE R3A WAS ON MY "BUYING PLANES"... 😕 😕
HELP!
THANKS,AND SORRY ABOUT MY ENGLISH!!

You may want to look to a body with 28mm lines if the 28 is your favorite lens.

Such body would be the Leitz Minolta CLE, or possibly the new Zeiss Ikon once it comes out.

Otherwise you are looking at an M6 or newer Leica with the proper magnification and framelines (they come in a vareity so you have to make sure it has the 28 lines).

The R3a 40mm lines are close to the edge of the viewfinder, so you'd need to be very confident using a 28mm which would photograph a larger image than the viewfinder can show.

If you went for the R2A you'd have 35mm framelines, and the edge of the viewfinder might not be too far off 28mm.

Another option for a body with 28mm framelines and both manual and aperture priority exposure is the Konica Hexar RF. The viewfinder has 0.6x magnification though, which is an acquired taste.

I have used a R without a viewfinder and a 28mm lens and had little disappointment with that. I finally received an older version of the 28mm v/f, plastic, and am pleased with it, but I sometimes just use the entire frame on the camera.

thanks everybody..and sorry again about the banality and ignorance,but...what would you suggest me,in virtue of a future widening of the equipment, with an 90 mm. lens for example? And more:which one the lighter body, considering that i preprefer the aperture priority exposure?and last but not least , the "cheaper" one? Maybe something like that doesn't still exsist??😕
thanks Riccardo 😀

Welcome to the forum Riccardo! 🙂 Not so cheap maybe, but not too expensive and definitely lighter, I would suggest a "thin" Leica Tele-Elmarit 90mm/f2.8. A little heavier but cheaper is the Konica M-Hexanon 90mm/f2.8. The Leica TE is $400-500 and the M-Hex is $350-450. Pic below is from the TE.
