I gave myself a two day google crash course absorbing anything and all I could about Rolleiflex, and some of the links directed me to threads here. Who knew there was a TLR forum on the rangefinder site 😛
I just won an auction for this on Friday evening and it arrived this afternoon. That was unexpectedly quick (and with free shipping 😉).
TLR is new to me, but I have acquired chest freezer full of film and much of it 120, so I needed to get something to shoot it with, though I do have a 6x12 Pinhole and several plastic cameras - Holga, Diana etc. Those are fun, but I wanted something a bit more serious. I contemplated Hasselblad, then realized they are still quite expensive, so I was then thinking Mamiya67 or Bronica.
Then I thought maybe it would be nice to be able to shoot handheld and be a bit more portable and the idea of TLR somehow got into my head...and I could...not...shake it.
I still have a 4x5 setup (and plenty of film) for my more contemplative slow photography. This will be a nice change of pace. Who knows, I may still decide to get a Mamiya 67 or something similar later on.
This appears to be a mid 1950s Autocord MX EVS. I believe I got it for a fantastic price and it's been well taken care of. It seems like everything is operating smoothly and the shutter speeds seem accurate according to my timing with my watch. Nothing sticks. I wouldn't go so far as to say it is mint, but truly not far from it though.
Oh and it came with a Soligor spot meter (bonus!) though I already have a Pentax spot as well as a Sekonic Flash meter.
I look forward to using this beauty!
