new user m3

Hello all, new to this forum but a lover of leica's. picked up an m3 today and she looks good and sounds good too. may have a cla done to it because of it's age.hope to talk to you all.

keep the grip, i have one on all my cameras.
they make shooting and carrying the camera much easier, especially if you use wrist straps, which i do.

the m3 is a good camera, feels good in the hand.

what do you guys have against grips?

i even modified one of mine so it would work better on the zi.
remember, when i'm out shooting i use a wrist strap and the grip so the camera is always in my hand.
no neck strap normally for me.

The grip positions the tripod socket under the lens axis where it belongs.

I mean these are great german engineers we're talkin about. I'm sure there was a good reason...

who cares, who uses a tripod?

I use a monopod or tripod for serious landscape and architectural photos. Why spend money for a good high resolution lens if one never takes full advantage of it by using a camera support?

Yeah, I'd guess it's to keep the lens focusing tab easy to operate while the rig is on the tripod! And the grip raises the camera up enough to keep the tab from fouling on the 'pod.
