That was an excellent lens review. Thanks for posting the link.

Got mine, I had all three of the CV 50mm f1.5's. The LTM then Version 1 of the M- Mount and now Version 2. V2 has the best ergonomics of the three. Knocked out 2 rolls while walking the streets. Will report on the results soon.

I have the black/nickel one and think it's great. The focus throw is shorter than I'm used to but I am very pleased with the lens as a whole. Well done to Voigtlander!

Well, finally snagged a used copy from cameraquest and snapped some test shots on saturday. Have to say, so far this is one of my favorite 50s ive ever used... it has a nice weight to it, but is still compact, short focus throw, unique rendering (not overly corrected/modern/clinical looking), no focus tab, and not too expensive.
Here's a sample shot from saturday shot wide open on my m9 (sorry, attaching didn't work)

When I looked at the design of these VM 50/1.5 II it reminded me of something. Then I realise they are really similar to the elusive yet spectacular Topcor-S 5cm f2.

The chrome SC one with the yellow coating looks just like my Topcor 5cm f2

I went through a period of selling off and consolidating equipment a few months ago. Sold off the 50/2.0 Planar and the 50/1.4 Nikkor, and got the Nokton. I gained a stop over the Planar, and gave up its ultimate (and sometimes excessive) sharpness. I gave up the Sonnar-dreaminess of the Nikkor, but no longer worry about its focus shift. In terms of its "signature", I think the Nokton is the perfect middle ground between the two, and the ideal 50 for my shooting. In addition, it's compact and beautifully made. My experience is film-only; I can't speak for digital performance. The bottom line is that I couldn't be happier with my decision!

Yeah, I've been thinking about what other 50s I'll probably end up selling...probably the 50 Summarit 2.5 and some cheaper ltm 50s that i never use. That'll just leave me with this and the 50 Lux asph. Think that should be good enough
