Voigtlander has discontinued its first version Leica Screw Mount to M mount adapters. They are identifiable by the cut outs on the adapter itself, and also because they don't have a "Type II" white tag on the box.
The new Type II 28/90 and 50/75 adapters have just arrived. The 35/135/24 Type II adapters have not been made yet.
What's the difference?
The Type II adapters are wide rimmed for some reason, without cut outs, like the original M3 Leitz adapters. hmm.
The Cosina factory is overworked and behind trying to keep up with orders. It will likely be some time until there are enough Type II adapters to meet demand. At the moment there is a real shortage. Cosina was able to fill only a small part of my Type II adapter order.
US Price $75 each for Type II adapters, $55 each for the discontinued Type I adapters. Until Type II adapters are plentiful, CameraQuest and PhotoVillage will be selling Type II adapters only with lenses, or to our past lens customers.
Before they were even announced, some guy that I had never delt with wanted to buy almost all my Type II adapters. We don't want an M8 club buying a lot of adapters, leaving our past and future lens customers without. I hope the Type II adapters will be plentiful in 4 to 6 weeks, time will tell how fast Mr. K can turn them out.
