In the spirit of pushing myself to another a level... I am not going to shoot another bench, busker or street sign holder ever again. Unless they are on fire, naked or naked, in that order.
Even then, I might not.
A gear/GAS free thread, I hope.

You've got a lot of very nice shots on your Flickr, so don't give up all of your subjects ;-)
But yes, new year, new photo resolutions. Mine is to carry out at least one project, which means not only taking pictures here and there in the streets. I'm considering a few possible themes to focus on, but either lack of time or fear for my own safety (unfortunately am no James Nachtwey) may prevent me from daring. So don't expect too much ;-)

You both have some great shots.
I'm a compulsive clicker - so mine is to start putting a point into the pictures. Like you Andrea - I need to start setting projects.
I use my digital camera as a composition exercise mostly... but that often means I'm not thinking about a subject, which leads to a lot of 'empty'/'nothingish' shots.
I also need to start doing some proper photography history and looking more at others to gain inspiration. I need to start shooting off less photos... (I think). Less is more 'n' all that...

I've got a large backlog of film to process. My hope is to start 2013 with a smaller backlog...

I know that feeling. My own 10 point guide is:often means I'm not thinking about a subject, which leads to a lot of 'empty'/'nothingish' shots.
- Watch the people/subject
- Watch the light
- Watch the background
- Watch the exposure
- Watch the framing
- Watch the verticals
- DOF is my friend
- There is nearly always "a moment", so watch for it
- Get it in one or two shots
- Use the roll(s), process, scan and file them.
Not sure about a project, I think I already have one all around me. I would like to have enough decent shots to do my vanity book on Blurb some day. Something pretentious like "A City, the Stone, the Light and its People"
See, still no mention of gear

My resolution is to take some f*cking pictures. It sounds silly, but I am quite frankly ashamed at my meager output over the last year.
Continue on with complete freedom in what I shoot.

Hope all you guys get to your goals and keep to the right level of your resolution and a tip... if you don't mind! think in POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE AND just forget the digital for some time. You'll be in the safe side.

Good shooting and Black and white dreams!
