Hello To You All. I just ordered a brand new Zi Ikon as a Xmas gift to myself. I also orderd some film as well as a 35mm Voigtlander Nokton (F/1.2), which I'm assuming since it is an M-Mount, it should be able to be used on the Zi too.

I have been shooting Leica RangeFinders (M6TTL, 50 Year OldM3 Double Stroke), and Nikon SLRs for a few years now, so I am farmiliar with Range Finder Photography.

Have any of you run into any problems mounting the Leica M lenses on the Zi?

There's another thread going that discusses the problems of the Summicro DR which is probably the only Leice lens that won't fit without modification. I don't think I'd be prepared to alter a lens to get it to fit on one particular M mount body though ... unless of course it was the only M mount body I owned!

That's good news I think. I only have the 35mm King of Bokeh, 50mm Summilux, 50mm Cron, and the 90mm Summicron, so they should all work.

Keith, I think I read you intro to the Zi world some time ago. How does it compare with your Leica gear?

Unfortunately I won't know for a few days yet ... the camera is still somewhere between here and Matsuiyastore and Xmas and new year mail congeston is probably slowing the process down a little I would imagine!

I've just come back from yet another disappointing journey to the local postoffice! 😛

enjoy your camera, I did not have much luck with the ZI myself but I know its a good camera, I just was in a rut with it or something...

Congrats! I love the camera myself. I took it out for some pretty good abusing this past weekend and it held up great. I did manage to get a bit of pine tree sap residue on the leatherette but I've got to purchase some goo-gone or similar product to remove what's still left of the residue.

It's been a great camera so far. Just got a grip for it for christmas along with a nice gordy camera neck strap. So nice. 🙂

joebt,
The ZI with the 35 Nokton is like a universal screwdriver... it will do almost any kind of shot... here are a few examples:

Enjoy your new rig, this combo makes you feel like king of the hill...

Thanks mfogiel! I have been looking for images produced by this lens. I was also considering the M7, but I saw the ZI and was impressed by the design. I also love a good viewfinder. When I read that the Ziess brings up the 35 and 50mm frames exclusively, I was sold. I have an M3 and love the viewfinder and the fact that with a 50mm lens, I only see 50mm frame lines.

Your pitures are very good. I aspire to do lens work half as nice.

Kind regards!

Great photos, I love your stuff..

New guy, you will love the viewfinder on the ZI. Clear and precise. Nothing compares.

A great combination, the ZI and the 35mm Nokton. That's the lens that monopolizes time on my camera's body, although the ZM 50mm Planar is just so sweet. Every time I turn the rings on the Nokton I feel like I'm altering some fundamental parameter of the universe, so heavy are the controls compared to the Planar.

I love my ZM 50 planar. One of my favorites! I have the 28 ultron to... but I fin dmyself always using the 50 Planar.

Boy do I want a 35 summilux! oy oy

I bet though I'll have to just use a 40mm nokton or something later.

My Brand New Jet Black Zeiss Ikon arrived 08:30 in the morning. I was out doing my six mile run and almost missed the UPS guy. I saw the truck go by and I sprinted all the way to the house and caught him as he was about to put the box back on the truck.

I have not loaded film in it yet, but I have attached the Nokton and played around with the focusing and shutter release a bit. I will take it out for a spin this weekend and shoot it side-by-side with my M3 double Stroke & the 50 lux.

I have spent the last two days reading the reviews, the good, the bad, and the ugly. You know how very few things in life live up to the hype? I'm a long time Leica user, and this Zeiss Ikon has already exceeded my expectations. It is very, very nice in my opinion.

The viewfinder is the best I've used. I even like the little electronic shutter sound. The only concern I have is the back loading film door? I hope this thing is light tight, and I hope it stays that way for some time to come.

The Nokton is awesome too. So far the Zeiss gets a two thumbs up!
