Newbie Electro 35 GSN query

I bought an adaptor for a couple of my GSN's from a guy on eBay... $10 if I recall correctly.

Got it and it was a 410 shotgun shell cut off about a 1/4 inch above the base. Turns out the exterior just fits in the GSN and the inner diameter is just right for a PX28. I also recall that he had put a rivet where the primer was originally. Nice one-time cheap fix. leave it in the camera and just change the PX28.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but I don't think it'd be possible to sneak in a shotgun shell into my country, even if it's inside a camera.

Mr Greyhoundman, how much would you charge to fix a GSN that does not clunk/thunk, the shutter fires, i get an over under light, but should i get a roll of film back that is junk, how much would you charge to replace the POD?
I dare say i am not gentle enough with the GSN already, got a battery stuck in it, that i had to force out, yay me (there was no thunk before that "surgery" either).

Hopefully you can get a good price on a repair. Keep in mind that these cameras can be bought pretty cheaply on ebay, but you always have to ck if the seller has used it w/ a battery, and also ask if the over and under lights work. My qwibble w/ these cameras is that they don't seem to be up to the same standards as the lens. The shutter button throw is really long and unprecise, and not knowing what shutter speed the lil beast has selected for your aperture is disconcerting. The lens, ah, it truly is sharp and fast. Make sure you put a lens shade on it as flare is a huge problem since its uncoated, and get something bigger than the factory one. A nice multicoated UV filter wouldn't hurt either. Mine also worked better w/ color film vs Tri-X, and the fake B&W shots were not bad at all. I would love to somehow adopt one of these lenses onto a better camera, but I doubt it would be possible.

I saw shots taken with the GSN and last minute went for a GSN kit rather than a QL-17 GIII.
At least it came with a neat leather bag (box? 😉 the Yashica wide and tele adapters, a flash (still untested) and flash bracket.
If repair is too much, i am tempted to get a GSN/GTN w/o anything for less than the $50 i spent on this shipped, and i will this time bug the seller some about the cam.
I thought based on the item description it would be a fully functional camera, which it might be, sans the thunk, i'll know more if i get to shoot the roll tomorrow.
The idea is to test with Yashica/Canonet if i like range finders asmuch as i think i would, then find the best Bessa (or so) that fits my budget (slim), i'd like a combined VF/RF and built-in meter and choice of 28/50 lens (so Neither Yashica nor Canonet would be the final choice due to being fixed lens RFs), Did i mention it wouldn't hurt to get CZJ/CZ like glass for it ?🙂
