After many hours reading post after post, and months of pining for this camera, I've finally taken the plunge and bought my R-D1. So thanks.
Only problem is, the shipping of my lens is taking longer than I thought. So I've set the date and some camera settings, and now I'm dying to try it out.
I'll post again if I live through the anticipation.

I tend to use a CV 35 1.7 most of the time although it does go in phases - used to be my CV 28 1.9. I have the 50 1.5 Nokton and 50 1.5 Summarit both of which I use very occasionally. I also have a CV 75 2.5, but haven't used that for a long time.
I have been looking at getting a 35 F2 Asph 'cron or 35 F2 Biogon for some time and maybe a 21, possibly CV. However, I just can't make up my mind and I'm not sure I'm up to the technical capabilities of what I currently have yet. Probably just GAS.

35 Cron 4th, it has a FOV roughly equivalent to a standard 50mm (53 to be exact like the I-61) lens, but of course the choice will depend on what you use on your full frame camera as a primary lens, if you tend to use 35mm as your normal lens, then you should look at 21mm lenses.

Welcome Ed! The photos on your site are awesome.
Most of my shots are of people at events like parties and weddings. Since the photos are mostly low light, my primary lens is either 50/1.0 (Leica Noctilux) or 75/2.0 (Leica Summicron)... evenly split between those two lenses. Great lenses for capturing faces.

Main lenses on my R-D1...? Jupiter-8 50/2. Minolta M-Rokkor 40/2. CV 25/4. And a Jupiter-9 85/2 for the few tele shots I take.

It is relatively small - smaller than the 28 1.9 and 50 1.5 - and light. This is one of the main reasons I use it in preference to the 28 1.9 - less obvious. If you want really small, the CV 35 2.5 is really small and gets great reviews. With regard to fast lenses, don't forget that you can change ISO on the fly and at 1600 the shots are still excellent, so if you'd normally shoot 400 film you've always got a couple of stops extra at you disposal.
