Hi everyone, Great forum, i read most of whats on herel as i have spent the last 6 months or so thinking on what Rangefinder to get. First cam for me was my fathers Cosina slr... then i've used an EOS 300 for the last 5 years... anyhoo, on of the guys at work had a G2 with 90mm and 28mm which i took home for a night... this sold the Contax for me... so now i'ma proud owner... 21mm; 35mm and 90mm kit... beautiful. Had 3 films thru it over the last week since getting it...XP2; Neopan 400 and Superia... only had 5 pics out of all those with the lens cap still on.... :D

I'll be spending some time here now... picking all your brains...

Welcome to his forum!

Since the weather is improving and the days get longer in the northern hemisphere, try some ISO 100 slidefilm in the G2. It's realy worth it!

Hello mojo. :) Welcome to the Forum, you will like it here. Let us know what you think of the 21mm? I don't have one and am curious? Biogons have been a successful formula. Cheers. :)

hiya mojo.. only 5 pics of the inside of the lens cap? I'm sure i took that many in just my first roll, much less 3 rolls

very nice choice of camera.. I'm madly in love with Zeiss glass, myself.. and, as Socke mentioned, slide film will give you outrageously nice images.. I personally recommend Ektrachrome E100SW for some vibrant colors

but in the meantime, let's see what you've shot so far

Same kit I used to have. The 21mm is incredible and if I didnt have so many bills with being a student I would still own it!
The 35mm is my most used lens. I have a couple pics in my gallery taken with my g1 and 35/90...feel free to check them out!
Welcome to the forum!

Welcome, Mojohey! I too am a recent fan of the Contax G system; great stuff. At first all I had in mind was that lovely fast 21mm Biogon plus some box to put it on, so I got a G1. Of course it got out of hand from there! Post some pics, if you would... :)

Welcome to our little looney bin! I enjoy Zeiss glass as well and hope to someday add a G system to my kit, though I'd probably go 28, Zoom, 90 just because... :)

Given that you mention Superia, if you like print film, I'll suggest trying a roll or two of Fuji Reala. It's a very nice 100 speed film that walks a delicate balance between supersaturation of color and still doing skin tones reasonably well. The many slide films are wonderful as well, but for my money Reala is just the nicest color film out there today.

Good luck, good light and post some pics!

Former Contax G devotee... only let it go when I got into the Leica fever. It still took me forever to sell my kit, I liked it so much! :(

Heck, welcome to the forum and feel free to pick our brains! :)

Thanks for the kind welcome everyone. Managed to get out last Sunday to shoot a few films,(lots of 21 & 90mm) so got 4 rolls to drop off this weekend. i will deffinately be posting carefully selected :) pictures soon. Looking forward to seeing my results from the Sunday walk. Also i will buy some 100 slide film this weekend to give it a go... and the person i bought the kit from included 4 rolls of Reala 100 so gotta try that this weekend... although it looks like its gonna be a rainy weekend... again.

My thoughts so far... the VF is small, but i shoot Super8 :D alot so i am used to not having a large window to look through... sometimes when shooting portrait the VF seems even smaller for my eye to find... but just getting used to it i suppose. But the cam feels great while shooting... started to use my thumb on the focus lock all the time before shooting, great fun.

Bought one of thew Crumpler bags just to store it in as it sits about the house... its a bit bulky but i came with me on the walk last week... all the lenses, hoods and filters and enough room for 8 rolls of film... but i needed something smaller when i want to take out body and 1 or 2 lenses... so got a Billingham Stowaway Airline something or other cheap on Ebay... booked up for 4 nights in New York in October, very excited about taking my new toy everywhere i go from now on...

P.S

The wife thinks i'm a nerd.
